This week we welcome back Han Mike, dj/producer from Antwerpen, Belgium, who has been performing regular mix series on several global radio shows such as X Beat Radio (Belgium), Saturo Sounds (UK), Enter Radio (Argentina).
“In 2019 I started to work more seriously with music and mixing especially progressive house style. I've been into music for a long time and I've always been into DJing especially because my neighbour and his very good friend have been playing music for many years since I was a kid until today. I spent a lot of time with them, I was about 14 years old at that time, I don't remember exactly, but I was already completely captivated by the music and the whole disco feeling. Especially because I was the one who was controlling the lights. As a kid it was very magical and I thought it was cool. I was completely captivated by the whole atmosphere from a young age, although it was a completely different style that they were playing. Somewhere there was always a love of music in me and it never let me rest. I don't know why I didn't get into that line earlier. At one time I organised a few parties where I also played music as a "DJ". At that time I was attracted to techno and hard techno, and we played them at the parties. Looking back, they were really good parties. The progressive world really hit me about 8 years ago, at a Guy J’s party in Budapest, where I really fell in love with that sound and have been in love with it ever since. My style is mostly progressive house, with a harder edge, mixed with a bit of techno and electronic music characteristics. But I also like to play softer songs with a more progressive sound. In early 2020 I started a weekly show on an underground radio station, Hujujuj Radio. Here I played a weekly mix of new releases alongside the weekly party news and programme recommendations. I also have a weekly Missed Opportunity Session on my YouTube channel, where I mix new progressive house tracks that are also released during the week. From mid 2021 an Argentinian radio station (ENTER Radio) invited me to start a mix series for them and become a resident Dj on the radio, and I play my mix on the radio every 2 weeks. In August 2021 I was given the opportunity to play at the big name Friskiyradio station, which was a huge opportunity and an honor to play there. In December 2021 I started a mix series called Revolutions on the English Saturo Radio and became resident DJ there. In February 2022 I was asked by the Belgian X Beat Radio to start my own mix series called Through My Dreams. Unfortunately due to lack of time I only do one mix a month. Nowadays several foreign progressive house collecting sites (Worldwide Progressive House Music, Gravity Electronic Music, Electronic Music Madness) support and share my mixes.”

Having grown up to the sounds of late 70's and early 80's Jazz Funk and Electro as well as European electronica Ranj ended up with quite a mixed bag of musical tastes.

His first foray into professional DJing started in 1986 when he started playing at various Rank Leisure venues in South London and Surrey.

After being poached by European Leisure in 1992 he went on to be resident DJ at the hugely successful Pure nights in St Albans till 1996 which led to playing at various nights at Ministry Of Sound, Turnmills, Bagley's, EC1 club, Club UK and The Cross. As well as that he also ran Creative Sounds record shop in Kingston Surrey.

After spending 15 years as resident Dj at the world-famous gentleman's club, Stringfellows, and following the start of the global pandemic, Ranj thought the time was right to start making music for himself and took to it like a duck to water. What followed over the next two years was a string of releases on labels such as Capital Heaven, Pangea, ARRVL, Crossfade Sounds to name but a few and his music has also won him support from the likes of Francois K, Guy Gerber, Alex Neri, Nick Warren, Terry Farley plus many more.
