The Lovepod

This brand new episode of Lazpod, the first in AGES, was inspired by seeing Stevie Wonder in concert last week. He reminded me that, in this time of trouble around the world, the one thing that keeps us sane and together is... love.
 
For many years I have been adding and subtracting songs from this compilation... my ultimate collection of love songs. These are songs about the joy of being in love and in some cases, they depict the despair we feel when we are without love.

I discovered whilst making this that you cant beat the classics and every time I tried to add in a fresher, "cooler" track, it just didn’t stand up against the rest. So, here it is, the return of Lazpod. I hope you can feel the love vibes and enjoy this one over years to come.

SHDW is the phantom moniker of Marco Bläsi, a Stuttgart native with a penchant for racing percussions and big room sounds. 2014 saw the beginning of his long-term partnership with like-minded techno dealer Obscure Shape (Luigi Urban), with whom he co-ran the party series and label spin-off From Another Mind. Ten years later and Bläsi has set out on his own journey, building on a decade-long legacy of sounds with just himself, ‘his music, decks, and a mixer’. Following on from his previous label, he founded Mutual Rytm in 2022, an outlet and creative platform focused on putting out the type of expansive techno SHDW’s come to be known for. His signature style a blend of intelligently superimposed and shuffling basslines, blink of an eye beats that elicit movement and social bonds. Unerring prime time techno, Bläsi’s path forward is looking promising, with a surge of Mutual Rytm releases and worldwide dates, the next ten years look set to further build on what he’s achieved since he started out. This time, it was for an all-nighter behind the decks. For this special occasion, we decided to do something different: a hybrid set, somewhere in between live and DJ.
Adding this extra dimension to the music created something truly unique — Frankey lost in keys and sound, while I focused on track selection and building towards a climax.
Being surrounded by so many friends from all over the world made it even better."

On In The Basement episode 075 we are joined joined by Jepe — a DJ and
producer with a proper journey behind him. He started out spinning Britpop
records on Portuguese radio when he was just sixteen, and somehow that led
all the way to Berlin, where he’s now sound engineer at Blackhead Studios in
the city. You might know him from his early days as one half of Johnwaynes, or
from his solo releases on Diynamic, Moodmusic, and Disco Halal as well as
releases on his very own Eastern Standard imprint.

He’s just dropped a single called “Universo Parallelo” with Gianet last month
and has a new slated for November, on the very same Disco Halal.

Ran Salman is a Live Act, DJ and Producer. Influenced by a broad range of electronic music genres from house, deep house and techno to disco and world music, he created his very own style.Arrangements of spherical melodies and edgy elements, combined with oriental influences from his home country and various percussion, he is expressing his thoughts and emotions through analog synthesizers, drum machines, bass guitar and even his own voice.Ran is also a live artist who builds and crafts his own unique instruments and performs with them in a new and exciting way.Over the years, Ran has gained great support from Solomun, Magdalena, Black Coffee, Agents of Time, Nick Warren, Hernan Cattaneo and many more.In 2014 Ran signed to the Berlin based label Steyoyoke, with his ‘Fractured Memories’ EP.Ever since, Ran Salman released under Steyoyoke / Steyoyoke Black label, Einmusika / EIN2, The Soundgarden and in 2018 he joined BOg’s imprint ‘ATLANT Recordings’ with his EP ‘Through The Woods’ which gained a lot of support in the Afro House scene, hitting the Beatport chart at #3 for a while.Currently Ran is working on building new instruments for his live shows and performing live acts and DJ sets around the world.
