Ransom Note Records are hyped to welcome the mighty Bleaching Agent to fold for his debut EP with us, Widowbait. The Leeds based producer has been a stalwart of the UK scene for some time, notably as resident at Manchester’s seminal Body Horror night, so we are over the moon the have snared his newest offerings for you. Backed up by fellow Leeds resident and up and coming hotshot, DJ Subaru, on remix duties, Bleaching Agent’s inaugural release on R$N is a deep down and dirty excursion into the murky depths of the UK underground. Have a hot shower on stand by because things are about to get mucky! 

Firstly, Cahoots chugs into view, with a low slung bass providing some much needed sleaze atop the relentlessly driving beat, setting the scene perfectly for what is to come. The surge of filth continues to build, as distorted riffs and droning vocals reach peak propulsion and we’re catapulted headlong into the discotheque!

Next up, the titular Widowbait takes an immediate left turn, hurling out angular chimes and broken beats to throw shapes to. Showcasing Bleach Agent’s inimitable production prowess, we’re treated to mesmerising guitar loops and dingy, lofi vocals that create a thoroughly unsettling, yet beautifully danceable climate. Of Now But Not displays yet another side to Our Man In The North, with staccato strings bouncing off sampled vocal stabs to create a rich cacophony of party friendly electronic shenanigans. 

Rounding off, DJ Subaru takes Widowbait on a slow motion journey through the trenches. Pumping the Chug dial up to eleven, their experience exciting dancers all over Europe with the Pleasuremaxxx parties is employed here is spades. This remix would be feverishly welcomed on any ALFOS dance floor. Slow. Spacey. Pounding. The raw ingredients are all there and Subaru combines them to perfection, adding a light sprinkling of cosmic magic.

Ransom Note Records are delighted to announce Blueprints Revisited, six remixes of the breakthrough debut mini-album from Ammonite, a.k.a. songwriter-producer Amy Spencer. Using just the voice and technology to create Blueprints, the outcome contains fragments of self-reflective lyrics, drones of humming vowels and broken, repetitive words; all meeting electronic processing to flow like a glorious, glitchy, blue river. Rapturously received, previous single ARP was used in Christian Dior’s Haute Couture runway at Paris fashion week in June.

We have invited an array of the best producers the underground has to offer to perform remix duties, including the inimitable talents of David Holmes, Salamanda, Midori Hirano, Franz Kirmann, Dot Never and Lapalace. These are artists Ammonite has admired from afar, along with artists that she has collaborated with; Dot Never co-produced Blueprints with Ammonite; she remixed David Holmes’ track Emotionally Clear and has recently been working on new music with R$N’s very own Lapalace. The results of which we await with baited breath.

The Blueprints Revisited artwork, by Amy’s visual collaborator, Yasmin Vardi, explores the concept of a remix, by sampling the original Blueprints artwork, reworking its elements and recolouring them in blueprint, cyan tones.

Ammonite - Blueprints Revisited [R$N44R]

Following the success of Azu Tiwaline’s Subconscience remix, we welcome Davis Galvin, Flug 8 and Symmol to remix trance-inducing (The) Rooted Sky by Wave Arising.

We are pleased to welcome Tunisia & France based artist Azu Tiwaline, who takes the ever-so-delicate Subconscience, and adds a driving four-on-the-floor groove. Azu turns it into a full energetic, dirty techno workout! Pulsating drum rhythms, scattered percussion, and ethereal vocal atmospheres transform the track from a transcendental journey of life force, into a club-infused trip into the rave!

Next up, the eclectic Pittsburgh-based artist Davis Galvin, takes on Electric Shrine. Already an ambient ensemble, Galvin takes us to a higher level of ambience - with a much slower, more meditative approach, the result being an 11-minute ruminative piece.

Long-time R$N ally, Flug 8, based in Denmark, takes us on an outer-space journey with a Linndrum-esque drum machine keeping the groove in his remix of It Comes and Goes. The original, being a slightly disconcerting ambient exploration, has been reworked into a signature Flug 8 space-infused track.

Manchester based artist Symmol and team member of the R$N label takes apart hypnotic Monin Yiri and reconstructs it in his own unique IDM-infused picture. Starting the track as a minimal affair, Symmol allows this reimagination to slowly grow with ethereal, guitar-like tones Radiohead could only dream of! Scattered percussion and drum elements keep the groove nodding along in an entrancing almost trip-hop-inspired manner.

Ransom Note Records are delighted to announce the debut EP from mysterious new artist, Double Body. They have bestowed upon us four scuzzy, Lo-Fi dance floor destroyers that brim with hypnotic patterns and mesmerising, looped samples. On remix duties, we’re over the moon to welcome Justine Forever to the fold. As longtime fans of her music, we’ve wanted her onboard for some time and she doesn’t disappoint here, turning the bounce factor and squelchy House sounds up to eleven.

Eponymous track Mirage sets off at a roaring pace, right out of the gate. Heavily processed 808s lead the way, with a slightly disconcerting vocal punctuating the rhythm and bass attack here and there. Inducing a threatening air of menace, this is one for the latest of late night discotheques.

Hallucination is a natural corollary, opening with the same era of vintage drum machines and unnerving synth lines. However, it morphs into a rapturous club stomper, thanks to a sanguine choir of chants. This joyful ensemble lifts us heavenwards, evoking past ritualistic places of reverence.

Dropping the pace a little, Apparition takes us in a new direction, with some celestial synth work and larger than large reverbs. Double Body’s inimitable vocal sample editing returns, with bursts of humanoid oral syllables underscoring the ethereal synth soundscape stretching out before us.

Rounding off, the aforementioned underground legend Justine Forever remixes title track Mirage, transforming it into a straight up House banger! The menacing atmosphere of the original is juxtaposed by a bouncing bass line, EBM-like drum patterns and Italo melodies, challenging you to not bust your finest angular moves on the floor.

The mighty Bawrut returns to Ransom Note Records with his incredible new record, Raqs EP. The follow up to his debut album on R$N, In The Middle, Our Man In Madrid discharges four weapons grade club monsters that will, as the title suggests, have have bodies moving to and fro the world over. 

In Bawrut’s own words: “Raqs means dance or dancing in Arabic. The need for dance in our society and it’s act of liberation is the focus of this new EP, where I explore a beloved place like the Mediterranean sea, mixing Arabic voices and Latin American rhythms, stabs, trance and flamenco.”

First single Que Quiere Usted wastes no time, entering the fray with a frantic clap assault that grows and evolves throughout the track, augmented by Bawrut’s trademark sparse, bouncy, synth lines. Hot on its heels, Draa Valley is a more understood affair, taking aim firmly at the dance floor. All driving drums and hooky vocal samples, it darts high and low before settling into that air-fist-punching final drop. 

Azadi shows yet another side to our Bozza, this time treating us to a mechanical funk workout of epic proportions. It’s angular stabs are thoroughly danceable, punctuated by some vaguely human (but definitely robotic) vocals that lift us towards mechanised heaven. Sonidero Usera closes proceedings with a more organic feel, opening with rainforest sounds interspersed with tribal drum patterns and cut up vocal stabs, which develops into a pummelling groove that is, quite literally, all singing, all dancing!

Following up on the runaway success of his Dream The Dream compilation, Richard Sen returns with a dance floor focussed interpretation of Mind Over Rhythm - Kubital Footstorm.  In his own words: “This is a progressive breakbeat version and I tried to keep the original 90s vibe to it, but add my own personality. Because there were no separate parts available to use, I had to take samples of audio from the finished original. I added my own synth sounds and drums so it became a proper remix, rather than just edits.”
Dropping just in time for festival season, this dance floor stomper is undoubtedly going too soundtrack the summer!

The London based duo have been a stalwart of the Italo Chug scene for some time, so we are over the moon the have snared their newest offerings for you. Backed up by South Korean up and coming cosmic hotshot, Shubostar, on remix duties, Darren and Jesse’s inaugural release on R$N is summer sunshine distilled. Break out the factor 50, because things are about to get hawt!

First up, the titular Weekend Machines launches itself from the traps. A medley of mechanical rhythms, metallic acid bass lines and sampled vocals, this is no doubt what our forthcoming AI automaton overlords will be listening to on repeat. And we, for one, praise them for it! All hail the AI.

Next up, Autostrada’s sequenced drum machines slap us around the face, like the bastard Lofi child of Mr Flagio, it is a pretty accurate audio approximation of what the 80’s was all about: synthesised arpeggios, 808 rims shots and futurism! Citric continues the retro aesthetic with some gorgeous guitar work and keyboard stabs, accompanied by the familiar automatic hi hat and hand clap percussion, this perfect slice of Machine-Funk will have even the most emotionless of automaton overlords shuffling on the spot in time to the inimitable rhythm.

Rounding off, Shubostar takes Weekend Machines on a cosmic journey to outer space. Pumping the Italo dial up to eleven, our girl from Berlin blasts off clutching an array of 80s synthesisers, deploying them on our journey across milky way as we’re sucked into the Disco Black Hole. Under the interplanetary glitter ball, creatures all creeds dance to the smooth sounds of Shubo’s monumental remix skills, as she delivers Eurobeat for the new millennium!

Ransom Note Records are delighted to announce Blueprints Revisited, six remixes of the breakthrough debut mini-album from Ammonite, a.k.a. songwriter-producer Amy Spencer. Using just the voice and technology to create Blueprints, the outcome contains fragments of self-reflective lyrics, drones of humming vowels and broken, repetitive words; all meeting electronic processing to flow like a glorious, glitchy, blue river. Rapturously received, previous single ARP was used in Christian Dior’s Haute Couture runway at Paris fashion week in June.

We have invited an array of the best producers the underground has to offer to perform remix duties, including the inimitable talents of David Holmes, Salamanda, Midori Hirano, Franz Kirmann, Dot Never and Lapalace. These are artists Ammonite has admired from afar, along with artists that she has collaborated with; Dot Never co-produced Blueprints with Ammonite; she remixed David Holmes’ track Emotionally Clear and has recently been working on new music with R$N’s very own Lapalace. The results of which we await with baited breath.

London based composer and Days Of Being Wild head honcho Franz Kirmann moulds Forgive Me Forget into a woozy, saturated wall of noise that would be at home at any MBV concert.

Uber producer and titan of the scene, David Holmes, supplies the EP focus track, taking You Don’t Know Me and immediately turning it on its head. The glitched out, mellow vibe of the LP version has had an adrenaline shot directly to the heart, making it spasm and contort to a new rhythm. Pummelling drums, guitar and soaring synth lines are adjoined to Amy’s exquisite vocal performance, fabricating a totally new behemoth for dance floors.

Manchester based artist Symmol and team member of the R$N label takes apart hypnotic Monin Yiri and reconstructs it in his own unique IDM-infused picture. Starting the track as a minimal affair, Symmol allows this reimagination to slowly grow with ethereal, guitar-like tones Radiohead could only dream of! Scattered percussion and drum elements keep the groove nodding along in an entrancing almost trip-hop-inspired manner.

As longtime fans of her music, we’ve wanted her onboard for some time and she doesn’t disappoint here, turning the bounce factor and squelchy House sounds up to eleven.

Hallucination is a natural corollary, opening with the same era of vintage drum machines and unnerving synth lines as Mirage. However, it morphs into a rapturous club stomper, thanks to a sanguine choir of chants. This joyful ensemble lifts us heavenwards, evoking past ritualistic places of reverence.

Today we're premiering a remix by @esso-ess - the recording project composed of Chris Stoker [Bad Passion] and the excellent Jamie Blanco who's released for the likes of Futureboogie. Their version of 'Seed 2 Sky' takes its inspiration from the warmth and throb of Kraftwerk’s motorway music and reimagines it set in the stars, creating a pulsating mix that’s best heard while travelling the vast arteries of an unknown life form.

If you've never heard of @annalann before, consider this your long-overdue introduction. The Latvian-born, Tel Aviv-based artist makes wildly experimental pop that's heavily informed by underground dance music. So naturally we saw fit to pair her up with R$N Records star @c_a_r for a special release...

Today we're putting out a 'Cholera Reinterpretations' package, which features Anna taking on her favourite track from C.A.R.'s new album 'PINNED'. And what's more, you can download both remixes for free via the link above. Don't say we're not good to you!

The 'Runway Edition' plays host to Anna's own vocals, and was recently featured as the soundtrack to Gal Shenfeld's spring/summer collection 'Heroes' at Tel Aviv Fashion Week 2018.

Bawrut - I Hear Voices

Following hot on the heels of his sold out 'Rumba' and 'Ciquita' 12”s, @bawrut returned to Ransom Note Records earlier this year with the '4x4' EP - home to four typically leftfield bangers that come on like a whirlwind journey through one of his unfailingly energetic DJ sets.

The accompanying remix EP is out now, featuring contributions from a host of star producers and underground favourites. Berlin’s rising star @marlonhoffstadt turns ‘More Cowbell’ into a breezy extended house jam - just the sort you could imagine spiralling away forever into infinity.

Bawrut - More Cowbell (Marlon Hoffstadt's Aloe Vera Mix)

Back in February, @c_a_r aka Chloé Raunet released her second album to huge acclaim from the likes of DJ Mag, Resident Advisor and Trax Magazine. With Raunet taking on the mantle of producer, singer and songwriter, 'PINNED' refined her palette of glimmering electronics and post-punk angles over 11 tracks of hazy, claustrophobic synth pop. 

Chloé has been hard at work on the follow-up ever since, and we’re delighted to be putting out her third album next year. Before we get ahead of ourselves though, there’s a special Xmas treat in the form of the final single to be taken from 'PINNED'. Possibly our favourite track on the album, ‘Flat Out at the Sockhop’ has been one of the highlights of the C.A.R. live show this year, and now it gets the much-deserved video treatment. 

The B-side is a new track, one of C.A.R.’s most desolate synth landscapes. “‘All But…’ was written on a long winter night towards the end of the year”, Chloé explains. “’Tis the season of over-indulgent emotions - counter-festive, brooding & melancholic. Woolly and woven, strings pluck and pull their way through a druggy fabric, all overlaid with dreamy, musing vocals.” 

Even the harshest winter eventually comes to pass, and the ice finally thaws with @manfredas' rather special dancefloor remix of ‘Daughters’ - a perfect aural representation of losing yourself in pulsing colours and beams of light.
