Autumns, aka Christian Donaghey, has been catapulting angular Post Punk weapons over the ramparts since 2014, via the likes of Downwards, Opal Tapes, iDEAL Recordings and DKA Records. First out of the traps is Taste For Someone, a rhythm and bass workout that will leave you gasping for breathe. A relentless pummelling in the lowering frequencies, punctuated by distorted vocals and atonal blasts that send a terrifying shiver down ones spine. The brilliantly titled Trolley Coin is as immediate as it is well named, with beautiful retro bass and Art of Noise-esque drums assaulting the senses. Trademark distorted, echoed vocals are present here too, building an atmosphere of duality: one part petrified dread, one part danceable joy!

Make Sure To Swallow arrives in a hailstorm of metallic chimes and punishing (absolutely punishing) kick drums.  Another foray into dark underbelly of angler Post Punk and No Wave aesthetics, the EP focus track is taking zero prisoners here. A relentless groove drives the track ever forward at a blistering pace, razing everything in its path to the ground. You have been warned! Our dear darlings and R$N Recs stalwarts Froid Dub Provide something of an antidote, by remixing Make Sure To Swallow in their own, inimitable style. Spacey dub echoes abound, they transform the abrasive original into a low slung, filthy journey into the outer reaches of space. With the harsher elements tamed somewhat, the Froid boys have created an epic cosmic workout, like only they can.

After nearly five decades of relentless innovation, Truus de Groot's Plus Instruments project shows no signs of slowing down. The ninth album, Unnoticed, finds the dutch Pioneer diving deeper into the experimental synthesiser palette than ever before, delivering 12 tracks of minimalist, analogue noise and her signature vocals. 

Recorded at The Ranch in Escondido, Unnoticed showcases her continued evolution as an artist.  Often referred to as the "Queen of the Dutch Underground," de Groot is a stalwart of the experimental underground music scene since establishing Plus Instruments in 1978 in Eindhoven. Her journey has taken her from the punk rock explosion of the late '70s Netherlands to the No Wave scene of early '80s New York, where she collaborated with Sonic Youth member Lee Ranaldo and drummer David Linton on the cult classic "Februari-April ’81.”

"It always comes from my own initiative; I decide who to play with. I believe that gives it new life each time," she explains. "I was always more into improvisation with a minimal approach, less structured, more groove.”

The Plus Instruments project has always been characterised by its ever changing nature and collaborative spirit. She has worked with an impressive roster of artists over the years , spanning continents and genres, including James Sclavunos (Nick Cave), Jim Duckworth (Gun Club), most recently, Miguel Barella and Cosmo Vitelli, who co-writes, produces and adds programming to standout track "Sexy Machine." This creative partnership has opened new avenues for de Groot's explorations, as she continues to plough yet another field of creativity.

“My path has been a long and winding road around the world, collaborating with all types of people in a variety of genres and cultures," de Groot reflects. "I am always looking for a new challenge, as I continue to seek exciting ways to express myself creatively through music, words, photography and film.” Now based back in the Netherlands, she continues her work while maintaining the core elements that have made Plus Instruments a touchstone for electronic music innovators. Her influence can be heard in everything from Electroclash to Cold Wave, with younger artists regularly seeking collaboration with the veteran experimentalist. Unnoticed arrives as de Groot enters her sixth decade of music-making, proving that true artistic vision only grows stronger with time.

Black Meteoric Star returns with 5am Open Air Sunrise, the first single from her forthcoming album, WET. Ransom Note Records and Dark Entries present the opening salvo from trans producer Rayna's defiant
new release, featuring remixes by [g] and Borusiade.

In a cultural moment defined by mounting threats to queer existence, Gavilán Rayna Russom - the visionary producer, DJ, and trans woman behind Black Meteoric Star - delivers 5am Open Air Sunrise, the first single from her forthcoming album WET.

The track captures the liminal magic of dawn breaking over the dance floor, a moment where exhaustion meets transcendence. Russell E.L. Butler and Borusiade each bring their distinct interpretations, expanding the track's emotional landscape while honouring its core energy. There were no parts for these tracks as they were live recordings so all remixes can be considered reconstructions.

This marks Black Meteoric Star's return since the cult classic "Freaks Only," with Rayna once again channeling the project's signature fusion of electronic dance music and queer resistance. Created as a performance identity in Berlin in 2006, Black Meteoric Star has always functioned as Rayna's avenger - a protector of truths she felt afraid to live openly.

"Black Meteoric Star is one of those characters I created for survival," Rayna reflects. "And this moment demands its return." WET reconnects electronic music's radical roots with leather/S/M culture during times of authoritarian morality. "5am Open Air Sunrise" offers the first glimpse of an album that refuses respectability politics and celebrates the intertwined histories of dungeon floors and dancefloors.

Wet is the fifth full length album by Black Meteoric Star and the 10th release. Black Meteoric Star is a project Rayna started in 2006 when she was living in Berlin that brought together her life long love of dance music culture with spiritual themes, drag, and her formative experiences of S/M culture.

Black Meteoric Star has always had an avenger quality in Rayna's life and creative work, and this iteration plays that role in response to the current political landscape. Wet celebrates the long standing shared history of electronic music and queer leather/SM culture and imagines a future where these two cultural expressions are re-connected.

Electronic music and leather/SM are both ways that queer people have historically built community, created and shared knowledge, and kept each other safe.

The current administration demonises and villainises queer people on the basis of a false moral framework of respectability, and its a trick. No amount of acting "respectable" will humanise queer people in the eyes of this administration and get us the rights we deserve.

Revitalising the connection between electronic music and queer leather/SM is a way to affirm the cultural power of both during a time when it has never been clearer that we keep each other safe.

Rayna, a transgender woman with a deep commitment to all of these cultural forms, has a strong message to deliver with this album. She has been a DJ and producer of electronic music for over thirty years and has been producing community cultural events for as long. She has also been involved in kink and bdsm for decades and is a well-known and respected DJ in the New York leatherdyke scene.

Rayna made international headlines in 2017 when she came out as transgender while touring with LCD Soundsystem. In 2018 she left the Grammy winning band to pursue projects that were more connected with her queer experience, including founding Voluminous Arts a cultural organization that supports trans artists.

Black Meteoric Star is a continuation of a thread in Rayna's work that runs through her Paper Eyes project and her role in Black Leotard Front. This thread has a comic book or x rated graphic novel component based around her experiences of being a sad lonely lesbian trans girl who got bullied a lot and found escape and the possibility of being avenged through X men comics and Dungeons and Dragons books.

Following up on the runaway success of his Dream The Dream compilation, Richard Sen returns with a dance floor focussed interpretation of Mind Over Rhythm - Kubital Footstorm.  In his own words: “This is a progressive breakbeat version and I tried to keep the original 90s vibe to it, but add my own personality. Because there were no separate parts available to use, I had to take samples of audio from the finished original. I added my own synth sounds and drums so it became a proper remix, rather than just edits.”
Dropping just in time for festival season, this dance floor stomper is undoubtedly going too soundtrack the summer!

Wet is the fifth full length album by Black Meteoric Star and the 10th release. Black Meteoric Star is a project Rayna started in 2006 when she was living in Berlin that brought together her life long love of dance music culture with spiritual themes, drag, and her formative experiences of S/M culture.

Black Meteoric Star has always had an avenger quality in Rayna's life and creative work, and this iteration plays that role in response to the current political landscape. Wet celebrates the long standing shared history of electronic music and queer leather/SM culture and imagines a future where these two cultural expressions are re-connected.

We’ve known Toby Tobias aka Alphonse for a very long time, longer than he’s been sitting on this creation with Seraphina Simone - 2017 if you’re wondering. The pair first crossed paths at Glastonbury and knocked out a set of lyrics over a single session. Life did what life does - lockdowns, a baby, other projects - and the track went through several incarnations before Toby zeroed in on what it actually was: a late-night acid house record built around the 303 line and Seraphina's unmistakable vocals.

The Main Mix is where it started. Raw acid wave, heavy on vocals, the original 2017 idea more or less intact. The message is straightforward: Spirit of the Night.

Alphonse has released on Klasse Wrecks, Hypercolour, Emotional Especial and Kalahari Oyster Cult. 
Seraphina Simone has solo EPs on her own terms (Milk Teeth, Wild), credits with TRILLS, Becky Hill and Robyn, and is currently doing her thing as vocalist and dancer in Self Esteem's live band.

Today we're premiering a remix by @esso-ess - the recording project composed of Chris Stoker [Bad Passion] and the excellent Jamie Blanco who's released for the likes of Futureboogie. Their version of 'Seed 2 Sky' takes its inspiration from the warmth and throb of Kraftwerk’s motorway music and reimagines it set in the stars, creating a pulsating mix that’s best heard while travelling the vast arteries of an unknown life form.

PREMIERE: Mother of Mars - Seed 2 Sky (Ess O Ess' No Wobble Cuts Remix)

If you've never heard of @annalann before, consider this your long-overdue introduction. The Latvian-born, Tel Aviv-based artist makes wildly experimental pop that's heavily informed by underground dance music. So naturally we saw fit to pair her up with R$N Records star @c_a_r for a special release...

Today we're putting out a 'Cholera Reinterpretations' package, which features Anna taking on her favourite track from C.A.R.'s new album 'PINNED'. And what's more, you can download both remixes for free via the link above. Don't say we're not good to you!

The 'Runway Edition' plays host to Anna's own vocals, and was recently featured as the soundtrack to Gal Shenfeld's spring/summer collection 'Heroes' at Tel Aviv Fashion Week 2018.

Bawrut - I Hear Voices

Back in February, @c_a_r aka Chloé Raunet released her second album to huge acclaim from the likes of DJ Mag, Resident Advisor and Trax Magazine. With Raunet taking on the mantle of producer, singer and songwriter, 'PINNED' refined her palette of glimmering electronics and post-punk angles over 11 tracks of hazy, claustrophobic synth pop. 

Chloé has been hard at work on the follow-up ever since, and we’re delighted to be putting out her third album next year. Before we get ahead of ourselves though, there’s a special Xmas treat in the form of the final single to be taken from 'PINNED'. Possibly our favourite track on the album, ‘Flat Out at the Sockhop’ has been one of the highlights of the C.A.R. live show this year, and now it gets the much-deserved video treatment. 

The B-side is a new track, one of C.A.R.’s most desolate synth landscapes. “‘All But…’ was written on a long winter night towards the end of the year”, Chloé explains. “’Tis the season of over-indulgent emotions - counter-festive, brooding & melancholic. Woolly and woven, strings pluck and pull their way through a druggy fabric, all overlaid with dreamy, musing vocals.” 

Even the harshest winter eventually comes to pass, and the ice finally thaws with @manfredas' rather special dancefloor remix of ‘Daughters’ - a perfect aural representation of losing yourself in pulsing colours and beams of light.
