His first successful project was the construction of a canal and tunnel under the right channel of the Nagarjuna Sagar Dam at Adigupala and Shyamrajpuram. For GVK Reddy, every task was an opportunity in disguise. One such opportunity came while working on the Nagarjuna Sagar Dam. He recalls, “During construction, a river flowed through parts of the dam. There was Block 41, which had to be sealed during the summer before the monsoon floods arrived. The contractor was reluctant to take on the job due to the risk of flooding, and no one else wanted to start the work.""
