Isolationism by Dexterous Numerics is a brooding electronic lament.  Dark menacing basslines and skittish 808 percussion combine with delicate, almost apologetic synth melodies to create a plaintive love letter to times passed and values long since discarded.

Just as gilded rays of winter sun break through chilly clouds and chilly times, this week's Shell Tape showers us with spiritual smiles and warm euphoria.

Coming direct from Boorloo tastemaker, party starter (repping Turnt Tables, Hypnox, Sealed Section and RTRFM's Full Frequency) and all around lovely person Ephacy, "Winter Dream" is exactly what it says on the box. A sublime dance music excursion that clocks in at just an under hour, the mix was beautifully described as "those little pockets of sun you get through the clouds" by EPHACY herself and we reckon those words sum it up perfectly.

Coasting effortlessly through dreamy downtempo styles, tripsy techno experiments and hands-in-the-air-eyes-closed house rollers, step out into your garden and have prance during this evening's golden hour. You won't regret it.

Icelandic producer @jonbjorn returns to his Lagaffe Tales imprint to deliver four vibrant cuts on the ‘BROT’ catalogue.

In a small valley between two mountains in the Icelandic Westfjords, you can find the source of creativity for the Reykjavík based Icelandic DJ and producer, Jónbjörn. As well as being an accomplished DJ, performing in Berlin, Vienna, Helsinki, Tbilisi and festivals such as Sonar Reykjavik and Secret Solstice, the last three years has seen Jónbjörn carving out a solo career both as a graphic designer, and music producer developing a sound of his own working with labels such as Neo Violence, FALK Records, D.KO Records and remixes on his Lagaffe Tales imprint – the label he’s been running for the past seven year runs with his friend Viktor Birgiss. In 2020 Lagaffe Tales will introduce more artists on the BROT series which @felixleifur started ever so memorably with a headturning trilogy in 2019.

The opener entitled ‘Shamisen’ kicks off the EP with stabbing electro drums, fluttering synth work harmonising with the gentle melodies throughout while ‘Anthophila Anna’ provides a more technofocused feel with raw modulations, acid-fuelled tones and surging, lo-fi rhythms.

On the filp, ‘Tinni’ deploys a menacing synth line, growing oscillations floating with the weight-driven kicks and snares offering up a peak-time dancefloor focused cut before ‘Sakuragawa’ rounds off proceedings with shimmering grooves harmonising with the aquatic tones and effervescent elements that pulsate until the end.

SNC Recs are no strangers to suprises. With the label's fourth release CHRONIC DURATIONS EP you’ll want to fasten your seatbelts. Nicolas Epe aka The Duty freedom, a Cologne based musician and artist, is ready to step into the spotlight, with the debut of his latest Alter Ego.

On CHRONIC DURATIONS he takes the audience on a dramatic, emotional journey into the world of Intelligent Drum and Bass music. The sound is familiar, yet new and timeless, it’s stuck in the 90s while showcasing the future. Slow melodies carry you through the tracks and are broken by fast kicks and glitchy sounds. The EP can be understood as a hybrid of sound and video art.
