French jazz funk group from the seventies. Keymembers were Alain Mion (Piano) and Alain Gandolfi (drums, percussion). Cortex recorded several albums and singles for the Sonodisc label. 2 albums got re-issued: 'Troupeau Bleu' (on 'Dare-Dare') and 'Volume 2' (on 'Follow Me').

Fresh from recording the legendary Inner Space soundtrack, 1974 saw Sven Libaek embark on Solar Flares, an amazing library recording for Peer International UK. Possibly best described as the companion piece to Inner Space, a polar vision in which this time the themes were inspired by the far reaches of ‘Outer Space’. A pioneering recording that featured the Australian designed synthesizer, the Qaser, a prototype of the first digital sampler, the Fairlight CMI. Although recorded in Sydney, it only saw a limited library issue in the UK and has since become a highly collectible LP. Expect Libaek’s trademark sound of sublime spacey jazz exotica. Featuring Australia’s finest studio and jazz musicians.

Two gold standard musical compositions I won’t insult by labelling with a genre. 'Truth is the key' is one of my favourite tracks period, the Arp solo just does it for me in every way. The vocal will be familiar as Irene Datcher also sang on the James Mason LP (who also features on these tracks) . 'Dreamflower' should need no introduction, famously Sampled by Erykah Badu’s ‘Didn't Cha Know ‘ and many others. This is a sublime landscape is notable for Ryo Kawasaki’s dreamy guitar work, Stone cold classic.  Both sides surprisingly have never graced the 7” format until now , absolutely essential 45.
