'Delany' is a catchy alt folk single from Rare Child's debut EP 'Big Smoke'. 
'Delany' is a modern folk tale of a child, with it's opening line 'Welcome to the land that won't sleep and never lies down' welcoming the listener to the 'Big Smoke', both the EP and the landscape 
Erin and Lachlan moved from rural Victoria to the city and started their band 'Rare Child' sooner after. 'Delany' was written when Lach and Erin's first niece was born. Erin sat down to pen Delany some advice, should she ever move from the country to the city  as her aunty and uncle did.

Drawing together disparate influences from Neko Case to Jeff Lang to The Chieftains, Rare Child’s melt-your-face woodsy folk fascinates and delights audiences.

Guitarist Lachlan Heycox and violin/vocalist Erin Heycox grew up in rural Australia steeped in bush-bands and balladeers. They met double-bassist Lachlan Gordon stringing up sound at a now defunct Hoddle Street pub.

Rare Child’s songs of pet magpies and cautionary tales of venture capitalists wittily observe and chronicle their journey from the bush to the city in their debut EP ‘Big Smoke’.
