John Vallins and Nat Kipner wrote their most famous song in London one afternoon in 1977. Too Much, Too Little, Too Late was recorded by Johnny Mathis and Deniece Williams not long after and it hit the number one spot on the Billboard charts in early 1978. John Vallins started playing in the Kinetics with a few mates when he was 15 years old. They covered all the big names of the day like the Beatles and Stones but they also had a talented songwriter of their own in the band, a guy called Steve Groves. The band released three singles and all are original songs. John remembers the influences that were turning him and the band on at the time.
