Class 1990, Viels born in a little city outside Milan (Italy) where he started to make music at the age of 13 years old. He discovered the techno culture once he received as a gift a book called “ TECHNO “ by Christian Zingales. From that day Viels started to make music and he released is ﬁrst Ep on december 2015 with Initial Berlin then after 3 months his debut on the dutch label Dynamic Reﬂection, which conﬁrmed his residency with the last Ep "Distrophism”. He’s new contribution for the 10 years of Dynamic Reﬂection gave him a big opportunity to share his music with the best artists on the scene like: Donato Dozzy, Mike Parker, Shifted, Oscar Mulero, Blawan, Ness, Jeroen Search and many more. A new imprint called "End Of Perception” was just launched by him and Francesco della Sala, which is actually going to release the third chapter of their VA series. With a frequenting an increasing number of quality line-ups all over the world (Los Angeles, Madrid, Berlin, Barcelona, Milano), with the likes of The Gods Planet, Svreca and Dasha Rush to name but a few, he grew up and at the moment is going to be apart of the new born booking agency Astrale AM.

Bio:

Whether doused in the grit of his hometown Glasgow, or expanded 
by the widescreen vistas of his current base, Barcelona, the music of 
Darren Roberts has asserted it´s uniqueness within his preferred form 
of expression, rolling and tunneling techno, strong on propulsion and 
atmosphere. 
Naming the project Deepbass was a strong statement of intent and 
commitment to a sound of his own, from the start. That he has in fact 
established it and remains on a path of constant perfection of it, is 
indicative of Darren´s personality and talent.
This consistent path has seen Deepbass put out records on labels such
as Edit Select Records, Aconito Records, Dynamic Refection and 
Soma, all the while enjoying a steady rise in recognition both with 
audience and peers. Along the way, he found in Italian producer 
Andrea Deplano, most widely known as Ness, a perfect foil for his 
vision of techno, with both collaborating on releases which displayed 
uncanny compatibility in sound between them. This commitment to 
the deeper, hypnotic side of techno is further proved by his own label,
Informa Records, where releases by names like Reggy Van Oers, 
nAX_Acid, Claudio PRC, Takaaki Itoh, Ness, NX1, Hironori Takahashi 
are constant highlights for those who crave expansive and engrossing 
soundscapes.
What stands out from his production and performances is that 
Deepbass creates something identifably his own, but refuses to ever 
be limited by it or to get comfortable repeating just one thing. Instead,
he takes what´s already his own and streamlines it, sharpens it and 
nuances it. The origin and destination might be constant, but the path 
it takes and how the journey feels is ever-changing.

About the mix:

This mix is a collection of some of the stuff I like to listen to at home. Chilled music ranging between ambient, electronica and techno sounds. Music for deep moments.

Since first playing at the second Patterns of Perception back in 2016, techno veteran @yuka, has bestowed a special beat upon Patterns of Perception’s heart.

With interests that span painting, sculpture, design and music, Yuka’s unique groove – which is as deep and psychedelic as it is lucent and energetic – has captivated dancers across the globe. Meanwhile, her productions, out on @fullpanda-records, @semantica-records, @silent-season and soon on @kalawila's Mountain Explosion Device are ornate, magical, and profound.

Her Patterns of Perception 41 perfectly captures the rich threads in her musical tapestry.

There are few musicians who manage to explore the convergence between techno and experimental as successfully as David Letellier.
Known as Kangding Ray, he has been producing for almost a decade, releasing his music exclusively on Raster-Noton and Stroboscopic Artefacts.
The aesthetic domains of these two labels epitomizes Kangding Ray’s complex sound—it’s an aesthetic that tests boundaries, evolving tirelessly in its exploration of texture, rhythm, and sound design.
Letellier’s foundations in rock and musique concrete give his music a vitality and uniqueness that has won fans the world over, from discerning avant-garde–electronica listeners, all the way to devoted clubbers.
KR has also been known for remixing artists such as Battles on Warp, Ben Frost on Mute, or Inigo Kennedy on Token.
Those who have been following Letellier since his debut album, 2006’s Stabil, will recognize not only his meticulous and constantly developing approach to sound design, but also the conceptual gravity behind his releases.
Through a string of recent EP’s and albums, culminating with the critically acclaimed “Solens Arc”, KR showed his ability to keep his artistic approach while delivering direct and powerful club-leaning tracks and darkly cinematic soundscapes. On 2015’s “Cory Arcane”, he pushed the limits of his sound even further, relinquishing standard rhythmic structures and conventional tonal models, he delivered what is perhaps his most sophisticated release yet; a raw and visceral universe, allowing a more fluid dialogue between soul and machines.
The forthcoming “HYPER OPAL MANTIS” for Stroboscopic Artefacts opens a new era for Kangding Ray, where he will explore the tension between the natural and artificial, the body and mind, which are central themes in electronic music in general, and Techno in particular. The means of creation, focused around technology and interactions with machines, contrast with the emotional response to sound, the mystical ritual of collective dancing, and the ethos of liberation and tolerance embedded in the culture it has produced.
As he describes it himself in a recent interview : “I’ve been evolving since a couple of years at the outer fringes of the club culture, where it overlaps with different experimental and avant-garde genres. While i entend to continue to explore that zone as a free maverick, i also wanted to give something back to the scene, something strong, beautiful and functional at the same time, while retaining enough personality to be exciting.”

Essē began his journey in electronic music around the beginning of 2000’s. Experimenting as a Dj he developed an interest for Techno and Minimal. In 2009 the Sardinian artist moved to Milan where he began his career in the world of sound engineering. Essē’s knowledge in music, production and techniques pushed him to start his own electronic musical project. As an artist, he is always looking to refine his technical and creative skills, through a constant research focusing on clear Techno aesthetics, through ambiental and hypnotic sounds with influences from dub and minimal.

He has released music for labels such as Circular Limited, Black Chrysalis Archives and Forevergreen LTD FM & LTD. He also recently joined Astrale AM, an independent agency and collective platform focused on exploring modern hypnotic soundscapes.

On 17th November we welcome Refracted to the line up for our final event of the year and in celebration, we bring you a special live recording from the man himself (podcast #073). Thank you Refracted!

For us, Refracted’s music penetrates the mind, body and soul like light through a prism - igniting rich colours in the form of feeling, movement and consciousness. His own personal take on electronic music (check out PoleGroup, Semantica, Silent Season) spans the realms of ambient through to techno, the latter being highly rhythmic, groove-heavy and often teaming with mind bending, psychedelic intensity. The organic feeling behind much of his music suggests it’s been created somewhere between the worlds of machines and nature, combining the best of both in a way which pulsates with life.

As one of the minds behind the otherworldly Parallel Festival line-ups, Refracted is a true appreciator of the transcendental possibilities through electronic music - the intertwining of its different forms with the ability to propel us to new dimensions, guided along the way by the mystical hidden voices of the music we love. His DJ sets illustrate his fine-tuned, well trained ear and his impressive story-telling ability and with a sound very close to On the 5th Day’s heart, we know this combo will make for another massively memorable moment in time for our books!

9beats is an artist from Lyon (France) focusing on exploration and description of space through music. After long years of passion for electronic music, he starts buying few machines and get more interested on sound design, trying to put out interesting textures and atmospheres on his tracks and always experimenting. His live sets composed by deep and mental tracks travel from ambient to techno.
In 2017, he joins Cosmic Wave Records team and play in different clubs in Lyon like Terminal club, Le Croiseur, Annexe and Ninkasi Kao. In 2018, he is invited to play live at La Vallée Electrique festival in south France.

Straight from Northern Italy, Alessio Meneghello or better known for his moniker Alan Backdrop, has been alluring his listeners through his productions characterised with deep atmospheres and a diversity of the genre. Simply put, Alan’s fascination is a reflection of his passion for music and inspiration he gets from the world around.
He is the kind of musician that certainly enjoys his studio jam sessions—this is one of the main reasons why he spends most of the time in his studio filled with synthesizers, recording and experimenting with the aim to capture and create his exceptional sound.
Alan Backdrop released his debut album, VR Plan, in 2013 on Prologue, an album that includes some of his pioneering tracks, such as “Cherber,” “Ere,” and “Siere.” While working on his first album, Alessio was simultaneously producing other singles, and EPs such as Excursion A and Excursion B published on Motoguzzi Records, Shan EP on Ekar, and Salko on Enklav. Shortly, he managed to create his second album, Eria, released in 2014 on Ekar Records, which best reflects his ever-growing deep productions.
One of Alessio’s latest projects is a_000, a project born from the unprompted come across of him and Enrico Rlt, which resulted in the creation of Road to Nauta, a 12’’ EP through Ekar Records. Road to Nauta is one of the works of Alan Backdrop that clearly indicates his long-lasting relationship with Ekar, which is one of the platforms where Alessio released most of his productions.
In addition to spending most of the time in his studio, Alan Backdrop performs in various festivals—the latest in which he performed were Harmony Open Air and Modem Festival— and in different clubs and musical events every once in a while. Fascinated by electronic music and inspired by nature is the best way to describe Alan Backdrop.
