Upon his return from a US west coast tour with Protoje & The Indiggnation, DJ Yaadcore immediately set to work on a new mix. What was the reason for his urgency? Well, July 23, 2013, the 121st birthday of Emperor Haile Selassie I, is also the release date for Yaadcore's commemorative mix called Hail Ras Tafari, Volume 1: Tribe of Judah.

In unlikely fashion, the mix begins with the sounds of Nyahbinghi drumming and chanting before going into some seldom heard reggae classics of decades gone by. As a leading DJ within the contemporary Reggae Revival movement, Yaadcore stressed the importance of maintaining traditions.

"Older reggae is a must, as always, because it is the root of the Rasta culture, spreading Ras Tafari's message through music. Can't leave out the foundation," said the DJ, whose given name is Rory Cha. "The use of the Nyahbinghi vibration is to give the essence of real worship as opposed to just listening to mainstream reggae because it is a popular song."

Hail Ras Tafari, Volume 1: Tribe of Judah is available for download on SoundCloud as of July 23. Yaadcore's radio program, Reggae Aroma, can be heard weekly on Jamaica's HOT 102FM early on Friday mornings, from 12:30am to 2:00am.

The testimony of Incient Bongo Isaac was recorded by Elder Ras Flako Tafari approximately one strong before Coronation Day 2013 gregorian.  The questions were written by King Toby, but actually asked to Bongo Isaac by Ras Flako.  The way it was recorded did not really fully capture Ras Flako Tafari's voice, so the questions themselves were re-recorded by King Toby and laced together to make this semi live interview.  InI chose this format because while it did not allow for as in depth and natural questions and reasoning, it preserved Bongo Isaac's testimony and voice with the greatest quality and that is a crucial part of this mission as many of InI Incients transition.  This reasoning first aired publicly on October 31st, 2013 on Roots'n'Kulcha Radio on KWVA - Eugene, Oregon during InI two hour Coronation Iwah radio broadcast. King Toby's part was recorded in one live pass, having not yet heard Incient Bongo Isaac's answers.  RasTafari Lives and Rules and Reigns.  MORE LIFE.

It is with great joy and honor that InI get to document and preserve the testimony of this Ilahful Rastafari Elder, I-ncient Bob Roy.  More thanks to Elder Ras Flako Tafari for setting the links, recording and asking the questions for InI.  Most of the questions were written by King Toby (Eugene, Oregon) and sent to Ras Flako to ask the I-ncient.  Ras Flako asked follow up questions as necessary to achieve the fullness. 

I-ncient Bob Roy came into the Rastafari trod circa 1960 and is both a survivor of the Coral Garden Attrocity of 1963 and was present at Groun'ation when HIM Haile Selassie came to Jamaica on April 21st, 1966.

RasTafari I-ncient Bob Roy Reasoning - January 2014

These videos and audios, are possibly the first ever videotaping of the Rastafari, was filmed August 5th, 1969 in the shanty that housed the Ethiopian World Federation Local 37 in Salt Lane, Kingston, Jamaica. Lambros Comitas, an anthropology professor at Teachers College, Columbia University, taped these events at the request and invitation of Mortimo Planno, a powerful and striking figure. Kumi, as known by his friends, played a pivotal role in the public unfolding of the Rastafarian movement in Jamaica. He also played a critically important part in initiating the politically potent study of that movement. As part of his lifelong dedication to the movement, he participated as a Rastafarian member in the historic Government Mission to Africa, a mission sent to explore the possibilities of repatriation. These films contain Rastafarian rites and an Amharic lesson.

This interview was conducted and recorded by RasTafari Elder Ras Flako Tafari in Montego Bay, Jamaica on October 28th, 2014. InI once again give and abundance of thanks for the works of Elder Ras Flako Tafari. He continues to work hard to make the voice of the RasTafari Nyahbinghi Incients heard across the world and helping InI youth to uphold the Nyahbinghi Creed, that the "...aged be protected..."

This special reasoning between Ras Flako Tafari and Incient Bongo Jack was recorded in January 2015 in the Montego Bay area of Jamaica.  The outline of the interview and questions were composed by King Toby of Roots'n'Kulcha Radio, but Ras Flako was given full encouragement to fill in and modify as necessary.  

Incient Bongo Jack is a long time Nyahbinghi man who is a Coral Gardens Atrocity survivor and was present when His Imperial Majesty, Haile Selassie the First visited Jamaica in 1966.

Haile Selassie of Ethiopia
Tafari Makonnen Woldemikael,[4] was Ethiopia's regent from 1916 to 1930 and Emperor of Ethiopia from 1930 to 1974. He was a member of the Solomonic dynasty.

At the League of Nations in 1936, the Emperor condemned the use of chemical weapons by Italy against his people during the Second Italo–Ethiopian War.[5] His internationalist views led to Ethiopia's becoming a charter member of the United Nations, and his political thought and experience in promoting multilateralism and collective security have proved seminal and enduring.[6] His suppression of rebellions among the landed aristocracy (the mesafint), which consistently opposed his reforms, as well as what some critics perceived to be Ethiopia's failure to modernize rapidly enough,[7] earned him criticism among some contemporaries and historians.[8] His regime was also criticized by human rights groups, such as Human Rights Watch, as autocratic and illiberal.[8][9]

Among the Rastafari movement, whose followers are estimated at between 2,000,000 and 4,000,000, Haile Selassie is revered as the returned messiah of the Bible, God incarnate.[10][11] Beginning in Jamaica in the 1930s, the Rastafari movement perceives Haile Selassie as a messianic figure who will lead a future golden age of eternal peace, righteousness, and prosperity.[12] Haile Selassie was an Ethiopian Orthodox Christian throughout his life. Haile Selassie is a defining figure in both Ethiopian and African history.[13][14]

Haile Selassie was known as a child as Lij Tafari Makonnen (Amharic ልጅ ተፈሪ መኮንን; lij teferī mekōnnin). Lij translates to "child", and serves to indicate that a youth is of noble blood. His given name, Tafari, means "one who is respected or feared". Like most Ethiopians, his personal name Tafari is followed by that of his father Makonnen and rarely that of his grandfather Woldemikael. His Ge'ez name Haile Selassie was given to him at his infant baptism and adopted again as part of his regnal name in 1930.

As Governor of Harer, he became known as Ras Teferi Makonnen About this sound listen (help·info). Ras translates to "head"[15] and is a rank of nobility equivalent to Duke;[16] though it is often rendered in translation as "prince". In 1916, Empress Zewditu I appointed him to the position of Balemulu Silt'an Enderase (Regent Plenipotentiary). In 1928, she granted him the throne of Shoa, elevating his title to Negus or "King".[17][18]

On 2 November 1930, after the death of Empress Zewditu, Ras Tafari was crowned King of Kings, rendered in English as "Emperor".[19] Upon his ascension, he took as his regnal name Haile Selassie I. Haile means in Ge'ez "Power of" and Selassie means trinity—therefore Haile Selassie roughly translates to "Power of the Trinity".[20] Haile Selassie's full title in office was "By the Conquering Lion of the Tribe of Judah, His Imperial Majesty Haile Selassie I, King of Kings of Ethiopia, Elect of God".[21][nb 3] This title reflects Ethiopian dynastic traditions, which hold that all monarchs must trace their lineage to Menelik I, who in the Ethiopian tradition was the offspring of King Solomon and the Queen of Sheba.[22]

To Ethiopians, Haile Selassie has been known by many names, including Janhoy, Talaqu Meri, and Abba Tekel.[23] The Rastafari movement employs many of these appellations, also referring to him as Jah, Jah Rastafari, and HIM (the abbreviation of "His Imperial Majesty").[23]
