New tune started today with Dylan Kilburn. Dylan on acoustic guitar, myself on bass guitar and mixing/engineering, drum tracks were mixed by myself from the Arise - Run Run Run multitrack. Still more stuff to add yet but not a bad start at all. Recorded and mixed entirely analog on Fostex R8 and Phonic MR3243 console

Improvisational Jam WIP

Brand new riddim track built today from the ground up. Still a few more things to add, but so far a very very solid, vibesy start. Drums recorded with MXL 960 tube condenser and Pyle PDKM7 kick drum mic. Bass synth, piano, and pad synths were overdubbed from Casio XW-P1. Drums were recorded/edited in the box as 2 tracks (bass and mono overhead), then bounced to 1/4" 8-track where the rest of the instruments were overdubbed and then mixed down via analog console to 2 track 1/4" at 15IPS with a digital capture being made in real time to DAW off of the repro head.  Cover picture is art by the brilliant artist Neil Hague, I claim no ownership to the image at all.

Thinking (Work In Progress dub)

This is the finalized mix of a tune I first started tracking about 2 years ago now featuring my friends Matt Tufaro on guitar and Blake Caroline Lewis on saxophone. Drums were programmed and mixed in the box down to 2 tracks stereo on Fostex R8 where bass and synths were overdubbed by myself, and then saxophone and guitar parts overdubbed by Blake and Matt respectively. I derived the bassline (and root from which the song was built upon) from the bassline featured in Dennis Brown's hit song Slave Driver, thus the reason for the name.

2 Minutes To Myself

This is a strange little proof of concept that I made about a year and a half or so, and it honestly takes you longer to listen to it then it did for me to "compose" it. Basically I created a tape loop on the Fostex R8, recorded a fragmented drum part to the loop for some sort of rhythmic backing, then proceeded to come up with some sort of broad chord of synth pads, from there I overdubbed individual hits of the chord to their own channels of tape, and then played the loop back and mixed things in and out with delays and reverb and played the hits (which harmonically "jive" with each other) to make a progressing little piece of music, that goes wherever I want to take it through mixing. This was recorded and mixed on my old / first setup, A Phonic MR3243 mixing desk and Behringer stomp box reverbs and delays, still sounds cool, though.
