every life is divine

even those caught
killing
murdering

the ones who
control
and keep us
quiet

those that come in the night
and burn our homes
steal our children
rape our sisters and wives
those that kill our young brothers
and slaughter the animals

those that take our parents
slam them against the wail
with a book of faith
with political rhetoric
with a wooden hammer
slamming down
upon their

hearts

judgement
                  for simply
                                   existing

there can be no murdering
no raping
no hurting
no bombing
no shooting

aged between 9 and 11,
one family struck
brothers and cousins
in the desert sand, playing
the only respite
from a life of death

and the first shell struck a fisherman's hut

i watched one Mother
wail
as her heart and spirit
were torn
from her ribcage to her throat
and the sound of her pain
caused my sternum
to burst
and the media did not care
they kept shooting
and bombing and killing
with their cameras
in her face
as she screamed
in her space
as she cried
in her heart
as she looked
terrified and bewildered
for someone, anyone
to help her
find her son
and no one
cared
they just kept
murdering her
softly

and there can be no beating of bloody fists
against the walls upon walls
of oppression
built by years of tears
and bloodletting of lies and deceit
and the cries of babes,
not even seven,
knowing more than the average adult
about the worries of our world
for centuries passed, more to come
that result in
the utter disgrace
of the human spirit

Dear Great Creator,
revenge is not the answer
please help them understand
that there must be no murdering
no raping
no bombing
no shooting
no hurting

and the first shell struck a fisherman's hut . . .
