Our mid-week listening session comes courtesy of multi-disciplinary Japanese artist, Makiko Iwaki, under her DJ alias, Iwamaki.

Aside from gracing the world with beautifully woven, introspective DJ sets, she performs live, and produces stunning drone and deep techno sounds under her alias, Menou. Having performed live at Barcelona’s Mostra festival, and releasing music on a string of labels, such as Orbitando, Initiate, and Accents, Iwamaki’s journey as an artist is one to keep your eyes on.

This mix is a live DJ set, recorded just three-weeks ago from MIMINOIMI at Polaris Tokyo, where she layered many sounds, and a unique fusion was born in that very moment.

London-based sound artist and DJ Jin Synth creates immersive sonic experiences by seamlessly blending ambient elements. Her artistry combines diverse textures and experimental layers into a unique sonic tapestry, using synthesizers, modular setups, and microphones to capture the world's frequencies. Through DJ performances, Jin crafts ethereal, meditative soundscapes that transport audiences, viewing CDJs & turntables as instruments for improvisational exploration. Her academic background drives her to delve into sonic art, crafting instruments and DIY microphones to push the boundaries of sound and deliver innovative, immersive musical experiences. This limited Psychedelic Meltdown cassette release is linked to an event series of the same name curated by The Slow Brown Fox, taking place at Sameheads in Berlin. As stated by its name, the series aims to mind-bend the audience through trippy and unexpected music, freely flowing between electronica and sounds from the beyond.

This first showcase presents a double mixtape released via Sameheads being the manifestation of the magic experienced on the inaugural night of January 6, 2024 featuring Loma Doom, Akvilina, Lizzie Urquhart and The Slow Brown Fox.
