The story behind the name comes from a chef’s point of view: creating a fresh dish with fresh ingredients that are available at the time, depending on the season. Similarly, I’m not sticking to any specific genre I’m focused on finding music that I truly groove with. I believe that if you’re a real artist, you need to blend different spices to tell meaningful stories.

✨ This track began with me recording Biggie sniffing around on my field recorder. She’s been my little angel, my daily joy. Seven years by her side have shown me just how deeply animals understand us, sometimes more than we understand ourselves.

As an artist, I never want to box myself into a single genre or style. Growth comes from stepping outside your comfort zone, and that’s exactly what I aimed for with this track.

With Already Won, Joep Mencke ventures into new territory, bringing a housier, indie-dance-infused sound to the forefront of his expanding musical universe.
