In the digital age, the compilation has lost much of it’s former glory. Not too long ago it was an indespensable format for the music-lover. Was it brilliantly compiled and telling a special story, the compilation was a significant gain as a particularly successful artist album.

In recent times, the compilation has been cheapened with generic ’Ibiza’ and ’Miami’ labelling as the genre compilation all but dissapeared from the scene.

This brought DJ T. to an idea, to create an homage to this nearly extinct format. As vol. 1 of the project is supposed to be a highly visible counterpoint to the ubiquitous, mostly House and Techno-stocked season sets and theme compilations, his choice fell on Disco; one of the oldest species in club music. Disco is currently experiencing a sort of rennaissance, with many young, and until recently, completely unknown artists and labels carrying the heritage on by working with new and contemporary definitions.

Naturally limited by the selection of works available digitally, DJ T. chose a very personal array of 43 tracks to give the connoisseur an overview of the newest branches in the Disco-tree and to cover as many diverse genres the last three decades have seen.

As the ’cherry on top’, the compilation contains a handfull of exclusive and unreleased tracks, including two new edits of the old DJ T. classics ’Philly’ & ’Funk On You’. Catz ’N Dogz appear with a remix of ’Dis’, the big hit of his second album. DJ T. also put his hands on one of his favourite classics ’Around The House’, one of the early works of the Hamburg-Disco-King Tensnake. In addition there are two unreleased tracks from the two mexican artists Robbie Akabal & Muan and Damian Uzabiaga.

In 1981 Lee Michaels founded the Hot Mix 5, a DJ team originating from Chicago consisting of Mickey 'Mixin' Oliver, Farley 'Jackmaster Funk', Ralphi 'Rockin' Rosario, Kenny 'Jammin' Jason and Scott 'Smokin' Silz. 
The Chicago House Music scene exploded as the Hot Mix 5 show and BMX became the No.1 Radio show in Chicago by airing a new sound called house. Collectively with their unique turntable skills and radio persona a genre emerged. These guys broke nearly every Chicago House record we know today. From this show the first true superstar DJs emerged and are credited with turning Chicago and the rest of the world onto this new sound.
The individuals featured here are pivotal in laying the foundations for the domination of house music around the world today.
They went onto launch Hot Mix 5 records, a stunning label with a dazzling roster of artists releasing worldwide hit after hit, that have stood the test of time.Thelabel will see its catalogue released on London's Midnight Riot, featuring tracks, remixes, edits and collaborations with the likes of Larry Heard, DJ Pierre, Ashley Beedle, Ron Basejam, Severino, Pete Herbert, Rayko, Yam Who?, Kiko Navarro, Leo Zero, Fingerman, 80's Child and Jaegerossa.
The city of Chicago recognised the Hot Mix 5's contribution to the creation of house music and honoured them by presenting each member with an individual street named after them and in addition a street called 'Hot Mix 5 Way'.

Three Fingerz Musique drops its third release, coming from Underground Quality's Melchior Sultana. 

His 3FM003 is composed of 3 diverse soulful tracks, all recorded live which are set to be played everywhere this winter. The EP opens with 'Healer', an emotional slow jam driven by warm pads and original voices that probably makes you think of Theo Parrish's 'Flower'. Following on is the club oriented 'Story', a straight House track guided by a 4/4 drum machine pattern and permeated with a loved up vibe. The EP ends with the deeper 'Time Can Tell': broken rides, key solos, groovy bass-line.. Jazz!

A word from Jesse Rose:
“It’s been an amazing rollercoaster of a ride with Play It Down and when asked why I would stop releasing in its current incarnation the answer was obvious. I’ve always been very involved in the A&R process of all the releases. I’ve always felt confident to tell an artist if something should be taken out or added because I have spent (near enough) every weekend for the last two decades in a club, listening and playing House music. I would test the demos in my sets and know automatically what felt right and what felt wrong. If I’m not playing in clubs it wouldn’t feel right for me to tell someone who is playing shows every weekend how their record should sound. And ultimately, Play It Down for me has been about finding music I've wanted to play in my sets. So for the minute it’s a massive thank you to all the artists, fellow DJs, supporters, club-goers,
distributors, journalists, radio presenters, interns, promoters, bootleggers, and to Laura (who has worked day-in & day-out overseeing near every part of the label for the past five years) for letting us come up with dreams that all of you have helped make a reality.

Rassek- Riders On The Storm (Kiko Navarro Rework)

Rassek, the electronic DJ/Producer currently based in NY/ Tehran, has been DJing and producing since 1999. 
Raised in New York City, Arash “Rassek” started collecting records in middle school where he began to develop his mixing skills and learning his craft.  Like many DJ, it was one magical night that changed everything.  
Rassek, who travelled back and forth from NYC to his family’s home in Tehran decided to go to an underground house party.  It was during that party where he fell in love with house music. The beat, the sound, the vibe, everything just seemed so right. Never before had he seen so many people so utterly consumed by the moment, all moving to the same beat, all at the same time. He recalls watching as the DJ thumbed through their record box, enamored by how many records the DJ had, he found himself more interested in how the DJ was manipulating the mixer and trying to figure out what song he was going to play next rather than dancing with the rest of his friends.  He was completely amazing by the DJ ability to drop the perfect record at the exact moment to make the crowd go nuts again and again. It was like the night couldn’t end, it was like the DJ was going to play forever. That night it was clear, he was to become a DJ.
Returning back to the States he linked up with fellow DJ/Producer Ali Dilamani. When the two met it was obvious they both shared a love for house music and they instantly began to work on original production and remixes as well as getting gigs at some of the hottest parties and clubs in NYC. Most notably opening for Paul Oakenfold on New Year’s Eve 2003 at club Exit. The two of them were like addict and their drug was house music. If they weren’t pounding dance floor with sets that seemed to never end. They were in the studio working on tracks. After a while they came to the realization that their heart really lied with producing and coming out with a sound unique to them. So they've dedicated 3 years to production and building up a reputable array of studio gear and equipment. This cultivated into a partnership know as Dilamani & Rassek which they have released several major remixes with Kult Records including likes of such artist as Craig Mitchell, Lula, and Alan T. Their most recent work was Nadia Ali’s Crash & Burn remix from her much anticipated solo album was released on her label, Smile in Bed. While Dilamani & Rassek continue to produce tracks, which feature their unique and infectious, sound in the progressive and Tech styles of house they continue to strive to incorporate their original touch and melodic taste in their eclectic brand of music.
After a 3 years of producing music together Rassek decided to move to Dubai where he linked up with fellow DJ Sam Farsio aka Socio Robots. While in Dubai the two booked gigs at some of the hottest parties such Plastic Beach Party, Lotus one, Sanctuary. Travelling back and forth from Dubai to Tehran, Rassek eventually moved back to his beloved home city where he linked up and collaborate with Dented Minds. While Rassek currently resides in Tehran he continues to DJ most notably to Dubai, Russia, Cyprus, Turkey, and Malaysia as well as releasing his biggest song to date for “Mistakes Rassek Mix” for none other than Nadia Ali (53rd Grammy Nominee) formerly of IIO, also their tune “Kaka” got remixed by Namito. In 2011 he expand his work by working with labels such as Monique Musique, Memoria, SK Supreme, Natura Viva, Suburban Tracks and many more to come. If 2011 has any indication of things to come, it is certain Rassek has only one way to go and that is up.
