Squidgy Sundays Ep.5

Quench channels the energy of London and Birmingham’s rave scenes to Mulubinba (Newcastle, AU), injecting the local dance community with the unmistakable groove of UK garage, breaks, and 2-step. As a DJ and producer of UK bass music - and one half of the downtempo duo KehdiDoofi Disqo - Quench has made a memorable debut at events like Rhythm At Dusk's Jungle Party and the Higher Ground. Squidgy Sunday's Ep. 6

Dub from the depths

Kaizen OG is one of the Newy Bass Crew legends and a junglist based in Darkinjoong (NSW Central Coast). With an insatiable appetite for music, he effortlessly traverses all tempos of broken beats, as long as they're accompanied by fat bass lines, infectious riddims, and soulful melodies.

Originally hailing from the UK, Kaizen OG arrived in Australia in 2012, swiftly becoming a part of Eora's drum and bass scene. In 2016, he cut his teeth as a resident DJ at the legendary kickon spot "117" – a place that holds a special allure for those in the know.

His sonic journey has lead him to play some awesome parties including Parkapoolooza, Chinese Laundry, The Elements of Tech and Bass, Afterlife, various Newy Bass Crew events, and Zoo Project, with his debut set being support for Delta Heavy and Matrix & Futurebound.

Although he took a brief hiatus from the club scene to embrace the joys of fatherhood, Kaizen OG channeled his passion into tinkering with sound systems, pushing the limits of speakers (I mean, how do you know where the limit is, if you haven’t kicked it’s head in a couple of times). His ingenuity led him to create a portable rig, enabling him to take his beats to secret spots tucked away in hidden corners.

It was an absolute honour to play this set at the final Rootbound at the stunning Mungalla Station. A massive thank you to the festival organisers and promoters for having me, much love to you all! The environment that you have cultivated over the years is truly special, so warm and welcoming. And whilst I'm sad it's over (maybe only just for now), I am happy and forever grateful that I experienced such a beautiful festival.
