Wallace has been something of a behind the scenes phenomenon. Having just two official releases at the time of writing, alongside a few white-labels on his own ‘Tartan’ imprint - The man known as Wallace has somehow worked his way into the record bags of the worlds biggest DJ’s: Gilles Peterson, Hunee, Moxie, Ruf Dug, Gideon and beyond.

It’s only a matter of time before the wider dance music community catches on - and I wouldn’t be surprised if - by the time this record hits the shelves - WALLACE-MANIA is in full effect. An artist like this only comes along once in a blue moon. Wallace has been quietly perfecting his craft for the last decade, and has a deep understanding of club dynamics that can’t be taught. After their debut on the label, with Bapjizzim on second edition of shouts back in 2021, we are absolutely delighted to be welcoming Special Feelings back to rhythm section international with 'Down Goose'.

After a chance meeting in a bar, Special Feelings have been jamming together for the last four years, creating music to encapsulate what feels good when they are jamming. Down Goose perfectly encapsulates the electricity of the duo have when they are collaborating, bringing together influences from Neue Grafik through to Yussef Dayes and Madlib, its one to get your feet moving

"Down Goose is an instrumental track featuring swirling synth sounds and octave bass. The song started off with a bass line I wrote on my 4 string. Inspired by the search for satisfying melodies and fluid rhythms that trip on themselves.

It was than that Polli Pearl put her synth magic to work creating the chords and duck sounds
which the song is named after.

We recorded in a basement in Perth with Mark Ashforth on drums who pretty much did it in 2 takes and we had some help from Josh Chan who mixed and added the melody synth line in the bridge part. The recording process came together in one afternoon session and was very satisfying fun to complete!"

Special Feelings - Special Feelings LP [preview]

For our 13th sample pack, we put together sounds derived from Yamaha’s AN200 groovebox, a machine of its era combining an analog modelling synth engine, a PCM drum module and sequencer.

Back at the turn of the millennium, ‘groove boxes’ were all the rage - all-in-one devices to make your favourite 90s bangers. Be it drum and bass, tech house or uk garage, these devices were marketed hard towards the amateur market with cost effective price points and the appropriate marketing spiel:

“Don't be fooled by its size.
Underneath the hood of the AN200 is an analog physical modeling synthesizer
that's capable of producing the incredibly fat resonant sounds of those enormous analog synthesizers of the 70's and early 80’s.”

Regardless some of these machines sucked, and some didn’t, but they basically all had bullshit limitations. The AN200 had an amazing Analog Modelling synth engine, as described, (so good its still in use by Yamaha on £2k+ synths, and behind the sounds of the venerable Reface CS) great drum sounds, but a poor 16 step sequencer, limited to just 3 tracks, making jamming ideas kinda impossible… Step in 2023 and we have sampled all the drum sounds for you, and taken the best of what the analog modelling synth has to offer.

Renowned for their boundary-pushing sonic explorations, Klein Zage and Joey G ii  join forces to deliver a captivating fusion of spoken word and electronic beats in their latest collaborative EP, ‘From New Cross To Ridgewood’ inspired by their time living together in South London. Set to be released at the end of March, the EP promises an immersive auditory experience that transcends genre boundaries featuring remixes from Local Artist, DJ Python and Ariel Zetina.
The EP marks a return to the stripped back musical style Sage became known for early in her career on Orphan Records, such as Womanhood EP and the sensational ‘The Sayers’ on the 2022 edition of Shouts. The record effortlessly blends  the ethereal spoken word prowess of Klein Zage with the electronic breaks wizardry of Joey G II.  The duo's ability to seamlessly merge spoken word poetry with innovative electronic soundscapes creates a unique and compelling listening journey that captivates from start to finish. 
Adding to the allure of the EP are the remix contributions from three distinct artists, each bringing their own perspective and style to the project. Producer and DJ of the moment, Ariel Zetina steps up to the plate with an impressive hyper chopped percussive rework whilst Local Artist RS alumni delivers a stellar dubbed out version perfect for any sunrise moment. The EP is then rounded off by cult producer DJ Python, known for his mix of ambient and ethereal production processes creating a stripped back version of ‘A Little Dissonance’.
