finally my Fusion set 2023 is here.
This Festival is very dear to my heart. I have been playing there since almost 20 years and it’s a space where I feel a special artistic freedom.
The political background of the festival reflects back into my set and inspires me over and over to new musical journeys.
This set flies from 85-170 BPM and across genres and messages.
My gratitude goes out to Fusion festival, to the amazing crowd, to all artists who provide me with inspiration and music.

Groove-based free-jazz octet Angles stir up things with their new, ambitious double-LP ”The Death of Kalypso”, duo to be released April 26th. The work – which could be considered a contemporary jazz-opera – mixes irresistible and urgent tunes with scintillating instrumental and improvisational sections. The singing star is Elle-Kari Sander, and an eminent string quartet lift the opus to unseen heights.
'Kalypso in Karlsbad, haunted by dreams’ is stunning piece with baroque-like harmonies and melodies, featuring a beautiful string arrangement by pianist Alex Zethson and an unforgettable vibraphone solo by Mattias Ståhl. Kalypso ages, expressing doubtful yet intense love. Transforming into a young woman in the early 1900s in Karlsbad, she sketches her lover. About 45 years later, a different woman with the same background is pursued by children with whips, beating and spitting.

Ein Track im Rahmen des Projekts "Gemeine Stadt" von der Berliner Landeszentrale für politische Bildung in Kooperation mit Sabrina Dittus & metroZones e.V.

Zuhause ist immer eine Mischung aus Gefühlen. Dementsprechend verbindet der Track „Where is Home“ warme Flächen von Synth und Cello mit harten, kalten, abstrakten Elementen in den vom Genre Clicks & Cuts inspirierten Beats. Vamba Sherif ist als Sprecher zu hören. Der aktuell in den Niederlanden wohnende Autor und Essayist erzählt in seinem TEDx-Talk zum Thema Zuhause seine persönlichen Geschichten der Migration, geprägt von dem immer neu erlebten Wunsch nach Ankommen und Dabeisein. Fragmente aus dem Vortrag wurden für „Where is Home“ lizensiert. Sherifs Stimme fügt sich musikalisch in den Track ein, die Samples geben der Komposition Struktur. Als Reaktion auf Sherifs Worte erklingt ein künstlich generierter Chor, der fragt: „Where are you from? I mean, where are you really from?“
