We are happy to share with you a live recording of Rue des Garderies.

Rue des Garderies is a shape-shifting ensemble, born on a summer night through the
collaboration of Zacharie Touati and Désiré Bonaventure, now joined by Vasco Cesaretti.
Together, they sculpt a free and sensitive sonic matter, blending psychedelic ambient, hazy dub, and DIY trance. Strings, machines, slow rhythms, and deep textures merge into a hypnotic jam-ritual.

An immersive and dreamlike experience—where you float, you dance, and time begins to sway.

Khey Mysterio weaves hypnotic soundscapes that blur the line between introspection and transcendence. Drawn to psychedelic music and entrancing rhythms, he crafts sets that resonate as much with the body as with the mind. A member of the Ambient Aira collective, he navigates the space between club energy and immersive listening, creating sonic journeys that invite both movement and surrender.

Operating out of Toronto, Trailcam crafts dense music shaped by fractured percussion and dub's dislocation. Her approach to sound evokes a world that's constantly shifting with its clean edges eroded by repetition and drift. Released on Northern Electronics, her debut album Drumlin Loop serves as a weathered map of these sonic territories.

Transparent Sound was formed in the English seaside town of Bognor Regis by B-Boy Orson Bramley and guitarist Martin Brown who bonded over a love of hip hop, electro, 70's electronica, Visage, and Cabaret Voltaire. 

Whilst 100% serious about making music to move the dance floor, Transparent Sound never took themselves seriously, breaking with the electro tradition of being po-faced even down to the self-deprecating admission in press releases that they “don’t know how any of [their] equipment works”. 

This willingness to “fiddle and tinker until a good noise comes out” has gained Transparent Sound a cult following from fans including Helena Hauff, Ricardo Villalobos, Weatherall, Laurent Garnier, Mad Mike, and Robert Smith of The Cure (who asked TS to remix their single Wrong Number). The TS track No Call From New York, was named track of 2017 on both the Pete Tong Essential Mix, and the Btraits BBC Radio 1 shows. 

A retrospective of their work, Accidents 1994-2023, was released this year on Tresor, collecting dancefloor hits like Punk Mother Fucker, the afore-mentioned No Call From New York, as well as new versions of old material and a few unreleased gems. 

Martin recently hung up his disco shoes after recovering from a life-threatening illness. Orson continues Transparent Sound’s mission both in the studio through on-going productions, live hardware stage show, and DJ sets taking the trademark heavy bass and saw-wave buzz direct to the dancefloor.

The Strelitzia flower was chosen for this episode because of a memory of one of these flowers that once adorned the Bossa DJ booth, and sometimes represents paradise, freedom, and exploration.

»the title ›and IV (inertia)‹ refers to a fictionalized successor of the baksan neutrino telescope in the caucasus region. at first, it has been an idea for a novel, based on the consideration that it is impossible to deal with the topic of a ›lebensraum‹ like berlin without being hit by stylization – so I had to experiment with strategies of fiction.«

with »and IV (inertia)«, grischa lichtenberger presents his first full length record on raster-noton after his participation in the unun-series. for his musical production, he uses field recordings of his environment which are manipulated and broken down to their bare nakedness until only fragments are left. apart from analogue sources, he also uses digital sound data which is likewise turned and twisted until the boundaries between analogue and digital are blurred.

the arrangement of these atomic elements results in a rather rough and brute, machine-like cut-up sound with an outstanding dynamic – almost none. it seems like that the 21 tracks only consist of a minimal set of elements, but which are rearranged in a virtuous manner and with a high degree of variation. broken beats and dribbling basses allude to downbeat tunes, let one stumble because of their arhythmicity, to eventually take up the underlying groove again. equally, there are fierce and harsh technoid elements. and towards the second part of the record, there is also room for new developments where more introverted and airy songs take over.

lichtenberger’s musical production on »and IV (inertia)« goes in line with his general artistic work, which also comprises other artistic genres such as installations and paintings. there is a mental attitude behind all this, and while the music sounds abstract, one may still identify his personal note. In this way, »and IV (inertia)« is the extension of a concept he already started with his »~treibgut« ep (r-n112), »to define aspects of legitimation for an artistic work in engagement with the concreteness of one’s living situation.«

emptyset is a bristol based project formed in 2005 by james ginzburg, director of the multiverse studios and the curator and electronic artist paul purgas. the project explores the legacy of analogue media, integrating aspects of rhythm, signal processing and spatial recording within the framework of minimalist composition. their work interrogates the perceptual boundaries between noise and music and the potential for both technology and architecture to embed and codify themselves within sound.

collapsed is emptyset’s first release on raster-noton and investigates the threshold where sonic structure is destabilized to the point where a chaotic order emerges out of a resistance to fragmentation and likewise explores the potential contained within this liminal space of transition. across the four tracks of the release a structural grammar is defined and then pushed to excess to the point where it reforms from repetitive and stable frameworks into non-grid based forms and ultimately chaotic rule sets.
