Turn It Up

CAPSIZE RECOVERY takes the listener on a ride through a very dark universe of gloomy sounds and atmospheres.

the eight rather longish tracks of the album are characterized by senking‘s epic signature sounds - creepy hovering bass lines, clean and slowed down drums, paired with oscillating and sometimes fierce synth melodies and shots.

with his extremely deep and dubby arrangements that explore the depths and abysses of bass heavy music, he again is able to create soundscapes that convey a subtle sense of unease or even fear, as if they were the soundtrack to a mysterious and disturbing film.

already the opener „chainsawfish“ reflects this perfectly. a minimalistic composition of droning basses and synth pad sounds is decorated by scary voice snippets that seem to be taken from a horror movie, which eventually evokes the uncanny feeling of being haunted.

the track „tiefenstop“ - a truly telling title - is a continuation of this theme and can be seen as the lowest point of the journey where the bass is reaching ever deeper spheres. again, voice snippets are used that intensify the hectic and stressful impression of the track, but here they are juxtaposed with rather positive and balancing melody lines.

besides the omnipresent mysterious atmosphere, the overall sound of jens massel‘s new record is organic and possesses a certain live character that can also be discovered in the last track. senking, by the way, is also one of the few artists who creates his music without the use of a computer.

„enduro bones“ starts with a monotone beat to which single elements like echoes, synth sounds, and fragments of melodies are added. by means of repetitions and extensions, the track is gradually becoming more dense and complex, and therefore it seems to be a song that is being created at this very moment.

senking‘s new record is an excursion to the depths of the human psyche. it‘s like the record is reflecting a difficult situation one can get into, as well as the struggle of getting out of it again - hence the title CAPSIZE RECOVERY.

It's early days yet, but things are going well for the London-based trio FACTORY FLOOR: Nik Colk (guitar/vocals/electronics), Gabe Gurnsey (drums/ electronics) and Dom Butler (electronics/vocals). And Optimo Music are in the unique position of doing a remix for Factory Floor and having a exclusive single release for it. 

“~ (R E A L  L O V E)” An Optimo (Espacio) Mix is already getting attention from James Holden, The Quietus, and it was only mastered about a fortnight ago. The Optimo (Espacio) mix was made at the behest of Factory Floor an was done by Optimo music head honcho JD Twitch alongside his sometime collaborator Dave Clark.

Stephen Morris, the drummer and rhythm king for music legends Joy Division & New Order produced the original version and continues to work with the band on remixes and new tracks. 

Both tracks will be released as a 12" single on 6th April 2011.

Captain Mustache is a French music producer and DJ from Paris.

Since 2020, he has released music on some of the most respected labels in the electronic scene: Kompakt, Mobilee, Exploited, Permanent Vacation, Helena Hauff's Return To Disorder, and an album on John Digweed's Bedrock Records, with consistent support from top DJ's around the world.

As a true electronic music lover, he has collaborated with some electro icons (Dave Clarke, Arnaud Rebotini, Chicks on Speed, The Advent, Keith Tucker from AUX88...), adding an extra vocal dimension to his music.

In 2023 he reached a career milestone with a full album called "The Super Album" on the legendary label KOMPAKT Records, with the privilege to join the short list of artists having signed an LP on this label, such as Kölsch, Agents Of Time or WhoMadeWho.

In 2025 he's coming with a new album called "LUZ" on beloved Berlin's label MOBILEE, a new achievement for him as an artist and a special step in his career.

He is now widely recognized for several standout tracks:
