It's a little different from our normal focus, but when @rat_9 first got in touch to explain the concept behind this album I knew we'd be involved in some form or other. 

'Around The World In 80 Riddims' is the producer's take on world music but from a bass-led perspective. The 12 track album features music inspired by Europe, Africa, Asia and the Americas and will be available through us here at FatKidOnFire on 16/12/13...

"Around The World In 80 Riddims: a collection of raw sounds from my main inspirations around the world, presented in my point of view. Each song marks a story, a memory or an ideology either musically or culturally, that has somehow marked my identity as a musician/producer. It's been a long journey, but finally all the collected bits and pieces fell into place to form this album; a tribute.

Punctum II - OST (Part of Larnaca Biennale 2018)

A unique unconventional performance with no narrative.
Like a work of art the audience was asked to wonder around, observe and fantasize the story or stories behind each room. 

CONCEPT
​
During dusk people’s lives shift from public to private, from the exterior into the interior where everything inevitably becomes more mystified.
Some say that we ( people) tend to never expose the ‘real self’ but rather undergo a transformation of who we would rather like to be and be seen by others. It is a strange action of imitating ourselves and of never being authentic. We tend to look like anyone else but ourselves. But behind closed doors that’s where our true self appears.

How would it feel to experience a moment in someone else’s private life? How would it feel to witness 
someone’s true self?

Punctum II

Hailing from the island of Cyprus in the Mediterranean Sea, Andreas’ love for music and sound was expressed at a young age. He picked up the guitar and started numerous bands, growing strong as a performer in the local scene. 
Experimenting with guitar pedals and sound is what pushed him into pursuing a degree in Sound Engineering (BSc Hons). Being constantly exposed to synthesis, digital manipulation and psychoacoustics, pushed Andreas into exploring his identity as Rat and electronic music production. He found himself sonically in London during his post-graduate degree (MA) in Audio Production in 2012. Since then Rat has been constantly releasing music on various local and international labels with undertones of dub, techno and garage. 
Rat’s productions have a distinct complexity in both sound design and synthesis; a skill developed through his studies and professional work as a sound designer, as well as poly-rhythmic and convoluted rhythmic patterns; an influence and homage to his progressive rock roots. 
As Rat never picked up DJing, he decided to putt his technical know-how to good use, and started playing live sets using a variety of analogue synthesizers, his guitar and Ableton Live as a sequencer and workstation. His live sets are an emotional rollercoaster spanning from deep sentiment all the way to floor stomping rhythms.
