Elusive - Live @ Oslo Nights 08.2005

With Ushuaia, Etui Records label founder Insect O. serves 4 tracks of his dub inspired techno sound.

The title track Ushuaia is a dark dub techno version of his ambient track Fin del Mundo. It has been originally released on Etui Winter Camp 5 compilation. Field recordings laying above mystic synth chords leaving you with the feeling of wandering around at the end of the world. The second track Shipwreck he recorded live on his modular synthesizer. With this track he explored feedback patching to shape sparkling rhythms.

The 3rd track Jacaranda Blossom Street starts with a melancholic homage. It is full of emotional moments while the beat slowly arrives and fades away. Just like memories do. The EP closes with pulsating chords of his Prophet 6 synthesizer and swirling echoes in the track When It Ends.

Insect O. composes music for travelling between ambient, dub and techno. Since 2013 he is member of Dresden based DAVE Festival with focus on organizing workshops about music production. In 2018 he released his full lenght Atacama.

Recorded in Piteå, Sweden, 1st Of October 2022 at Studio Acusticum's Black Box room as a part of Klubb Kluster / Resonans Festival 2022.

This is the first session of Hjärngymnastik recorded outside of the safe space given by my living room walls. A downtempo ordeal diving deep in to hypnotic acid, lush IDM, breaks, electro, sci-fi bleeps, space station ambient and futurist techno. Like all previous Hjärngymnastik recordings, all tracks used were produced before the year 2000.

There are a select few DJs who can go deep while spanning genres and eras - still keeping the flow and the floor intact. It's rare that David Siska  ( @david-siska ) doesn't play a set that is a tribute to his time deeply involved in Chicago's sweat-drenched loft parties and burgeoning techno club scene, and his devotion to the sounds of Detroit and its most diverse DJs. He co-hosts the Sonic Sunset radio show turned mixshow - continuing its long-standing tradition of taking in a wide swath of dance music and through a scarcely definable but undeniable common thread, making it mean something as a unified whole. He's a resident DJ with San Francisco's renowned As You Like It crew as well as the music community-centric Run The Length Of Your Wildness.

Another selection of mainly UK techno from the early to mid-90s. On this one there's a slightly more uptempo/dancefloor feel (in the middle section at least), with some deep grooves from the Pure Plastic/Plaid family, LFO's Mark Bell in his Clark guise, a soulful techno masterpiece from Inertia (aka A Guy Called Gerald), and a raw heater from Neuropolitique on Irdial. Recorded from vinyl once again with authentic grit.

Q1. How and where was the mix recorded? Could you tell us about the idea behind the mix?
It was recorded in my studio in Berlin, picked the most interesting pieces I've heard recently, made a overlapping mix of different sounds and grooves to ultimately create a nice listening experience.
