Currently a one-man band consisting of a founding member of a previous incarnation of Ravenous Suns.

The old Ravenous Suns was a punk/metal hybrid band whose influences ranged from classic and progressive rock to 80s and 90s metal forms to punk, post-punk, shoegaze and related noisy forms, and whatever else worked.  We definitely needed work; but considering the individual and collective talents of the four members of the final line-up, and our drive to make it happen, it could have gone somewhere further than it did.

The new Ravenous Suns will focus more on the shoegaze, noise pop, dream pop, and other similar influences, for its chosen tones, but will musically draw on a diverse cross-section of modern genres.  Some of the music will be sophisticated, and some of it will be simple, but it will always be as noisy and blurry as possible.

This is only a slight reversal of the original band's aesthetic.  In those days, I was all about fuzz and chorus cranked to the max to create a heavy, cutting, yet strangely beautiful psychedelic rhythm guitar sound.  I was not a good player at all, so I made up for it my attempting to split ears and spin heads.  It was a bit difficult to do that with a 5-watt amp, and to be honest, the others probably thought that was a good thing.  I was also an uptight, naive person who didn't know much about the world and couldn't simply let things be, and while that only slightly dented the sound, it most certainly wound up leading to my departure from the band.

Though I'm a slightly better player nowadays, have gone way behond lightening up and straight into a mellow outlook, and have added large doses of extended chords, fragments, drones, and other niceties, I still seem to want to split ears and spin heads.  I want to do something that is equal parts rough and beautiful, emphasizing the musical artistry that is my style of writing, yet giving you something for pumping fists, sexing up your partner, or meditating, all in the same beat.

Is it possible for chain saws to play jazz?  Can foghorns be used to write love songs?  Can the sound of gently falling rain be equally suspenseful and ominous?  If we find a way to capture the sonic essense of one hand clapping, and run it through delay with the feedback cranked to the max, will we ever need to clap again?  Is it possible to do the hokey-pokey to the sound of a scream?  Are we gonna have us a wang dang doodle?  These and other questions might be explored one of these days when I'm not busy making the stuff you'll hear here.
