6 SONGS - OUT VIA SOFT GUNGE RECORDS ON 11/2/2022

Long before Ravi G existed, The Milk Shakey Shakies have been tirelessly touring the small pubs and clubs of the UK. Their debut EP, 6 Songs, was recorded after their explosive '96 tour.

Frontman/guitarist Keith Cheesecake recounts a story about the protagonist from '6 Songs'…

"We met a young Jacob Rees-Mogg back in '96 at the end of one of our gigs. It was just after the Scotland game and we were playing the main hall at Glasgow Caledonian. It was so rowdy. People were pissed and angry. Throughout the gig we noticed was a slender man in a suit and round framed glasses, he had a magnificent air of confidence about him".

"He kept shouting, 'I'm the main man, and in the main I'm insane'"

"At one point he smashed a plate (along with it's contents - if I remember correctly, a caesar salad) onto the stage. Daveo [Bass player, Dave "butter wouldn't melt" O] just headed it straight back at him. It was hilarious".

"Anyway, we finished the gig, and JRM was waiting backstage. He really wanted to meet us. Apparently he was a massive fan of The Shakies and had been following us on tour. He was off his face and spent 20 mins talking about Ravi Gunslinger and free market economics."

"He came off as arrogant. Not a nice man at all. But being the nice people we are we shared a pizza with him"

"In between each mouthful he'd quietly mutter to himself 'food in my mouth, feels so good'"

"As he approached the end of his pizza dinner, we could see him coming down from his initial euphoria. He quietly scrunched up his serviette, calmly throwing it into the overflowing bin at the other end of the room and gently whispered 'I'm out of control, oh baby, I'm out of control'".

VORSICHT KINDER are four friends from Berlin who took four years to record their first tape (too many alcopops? no, attitude!). Their music is characterised by unusual languages, instrument swapping and obligatory cigarette breaks.
