DJ Set at Maushi Day x The Daily All Day Festival Pune 2023

SY Rockers is the new project from Ryan Aitchison aka Mella Dee and KALLIDA Festival bossman Reuben G.

Their story goes all the way back to 2009, when Reuben invited Ryan to be a resident for his party LSS at Hi-Fi Club in Leeds. The pair went on to bond over their shared love of bass-led music in the UK underground, a sound that was especially important to their native South Yorkshire.

Fourteen years on, Ryan and Reuben revisit those early inspirations as SY Rockers. Their debut EP is a slickly produced expression of bleep, UK techno, bassline and dub, redrawing lines between the sound legacies of cities like Sheffield, Bradford and Leeds across three tracks.

True to those roots, the result is a hypnotic blend of raw drums and subsonic impact. ‘Windy Dub’ introduces the record with a hazy, heads-down bass, occasionally shivering into a cavernous space echo before it locks back into a haunting synth hook.

‘Modem’ does what it says on the tin: gameboy tones bounce around a warm sub, calling back the ‘less is more’ aesthetic of the original bleep era. Finally, ‘Rhythm Resonate’ zooms in on where it all started—the drum machine. 909s, lasers and a touch of perc combine to create the ultimate techno tool.

Our 225th Local Selection Mix comes from Berlin-based Amaylia. The rising DJ supplies a full-throttle industrial-tinged techno mix, as she intertwines shades of acid and trance into a punishing podcast.

Introducing Amaylia, a young & exciting techno prospect that has been turning heads across Dublin & Berlin. Although Amaylia may be a new name to many, she has been perfecting the craft of mixing records for over 5 years. Studying under some of the most respected artists at BIFE, the young DJ harnessed the tools to learn the craft of moving dance floors.

Now situated in Berlin, Amaylia has begun to morph her sound into a kaleidoscopic frenzy of piercing synth lines and pulsating drum grooves, perfectly carved out to keep hips shaking. With a strong CV of previous gigs in venues such as Wigwam, The Sound House, Suicide Club, AVA Club & Void in Berlin Altenberg in Prague & Publika in Slovenia.

Amaylia laces together a number of her influences as part of her Local Selection, joining menacing hypnotic rhythms with earth-shattering industrial cuts. The young DJ pushes the tempo on this one while holding a solid groove & breakneck power with both hands. Trance and psy nuances peak through the mix, making it a cocktail of dancefloor-focused power. This is eclectic and controlled techno madness.

Kneaded Pain's KPAINS series returns for its eighth instalment as it continues to push and highlight some of the brightest new talents rising up across the techno landscape.

A bumper collection of raw and hypnotic tracks from the likes of Nuke, Marina George, Holger Zilske and Martin Landsky are joined by harder techno cuts from Rispoli Benito, Debbie It and Fenska. 

Risa Taniguchi and Do Shock Booze go dark and psychedelic with their offerings, whilst Queer On Acid, Melvin Spix, Mijk van Dijk, and Alex Blanco round off this essential package with some groove laden club tracks.

Welcome to our final episode of the year, 2023. Today, we're thrilled to introduce you to an artist who has been shaping the electronic music landscape for nearly two decades. Known by some as Fresh Prince and by others as the darker half of the iconic duo Monochrome, our guest has been a DJ for 15 years. He's a man who loves to explore and experiment, always drawn to the unknown. His journey began with the sounds of Eric Prydz, a producer renowned for his versatility and commercial success. Over the years, he's been deeply inspired by numerous talented artists, including Octo Octa, Spray, Dold, and Pearson Sound.

Storytelling is a key aspect of his performance. It's not just about identifying a great track; it's about knowing the right moment to play it. Understanding the energy of the crowd and being open to exploring new sounds is crucial. For him, setting the tone and energy of the night is a responsibility he takes seriously, and he prides himself on executing it well. One of the most rewarding experiences for him is hearing feedback months later from listeners who loved a particular set

Nicolas Vogler is a Brazilian-based techno producer, DJ and mastering engineer.

Strongly inspired by the raw and energetic sound of the 90s, Brazilian-based artist Nicolas Vogler began his music career by DJing at underground events, developing over the years an extensive collection of tracks that reflect his keen research and unique musical identity.
Through his typical minimalist, fast, and introspective sound, Nicolas started releasing his tracks through his own personal label NCLS which quickly gained notoriety and attracted support from renowned DJs worldwide.
 
Today, Nicolas has a discography that revolves around just over 150 tracks, 30 albums, and 50 mixtapes signed on various labels and collectives of the underground techno scene, such as Mutual Rytm, Planet Rhythm, Suara, Syxt Berlin, Malör Records, Orphic Amsterdam, Frenzy, and Reclaim Your City.
