(Pronouns: They/Them/Theirs) Art of the Omitted (AOTO) is an experimental-soul, theatrical, and conceptual LP written by Kanu M and produced entirely by R.A.W.B. "AOTO" will take you on a journey into intersectionality that an individual may face in the hands of American society. This tape examines the struggle, power, and liberation of oppressed peoples who have been omitted from their freedom and equity under patriarchy and white supremacy. When talking on these topics, it's important to point out that Kanu M speaks from their own experience of omission and what it means to continuously fight forms of oppression, while simultaneously dealing with their own privileges and personal issues. Songs like "Misunderstood" that talks on their social anxiety and "But Beautiful" that touch on their masculinity and the misogyny that they have lived around throughout their lives. While recognizing Kanu M's issues and privilege, there are also songs like "Repertoire" that bring questions of existence and belief into their mind. AOTO is ended with a scratch song titled, "Amerikkkan Cycle", the meaning of continuously repeating actions, emotions, and forms of communication in reflection of adaption and development of our everyday lives. In addition, ideas and archives of the past still reflect our world today. The real question is: how does one handle or cope with this inescapable cycle? Taking ideas of Applied Theatre, AOTO is as equally about aesthetic and ethic that not only carry a unique style, but also offer questions that need to be continuously asked for the future. A debut album for both R.A.W.B. and Kanu M, join them on their journey.
