Operating out of Berlin, French DJ and producer Léo Naïtaïssa, alias Quelza, counts as one of the most satisfyingly mature young guns to emerge out the new wave of techno artists that’s been unfurling in recent times. After a couple iterations on the likes of K S R and Hayes, Quelza recently joined the MORD fold with an exquisitely panoramic view into his mental multiverse. Championing layered techno wares laced with a breaksy, IDM-informed touch that packs a punch, the Frenchman keeps on carving out a truly distinctive, shape-shifting signature, switching scopes and angles as he ups the rhythmic pressure with every next sequence. Philippa Pacho is back on Bassiani airwaves for Podcast 178. The dynamic artist behind positivesource and STHLM Murder Girls knows a thing or two about setting a crowd in motion. Her shapeshifting beats and unmatched energy fast making her a household name far outside her native Sweden and more recent Berlin base. Her residency at Stockholm mainstay Under Bron is about a decade old, but there’s not even so much as a suggestion of hesitancy or weariness in her work, carrying a passion that’s infectious, and as palpable in a club as it is on screen (check out her recent sets on Hör). Her Techno really is powerful stuff, a sustained sonic onslaught, an unyielding beast, hulking and formidable but also smart. For many DJs whose sound is so heavily reliant on bass to carry forth their message, a slip into monotony wouldn’t be entirely unpredictable, but Philippa’s cunning use of supporting effects and melody keeps even a 6 hour journey like this one interesting from start to finish. This up and coming doyenne of loop Techno really is a force like no other.

@oscarmulero is one of those artists whose sound is immediately identifiable. It has had an unwavering depth, headiness and atmospheric richness to it for more than 30 years, which is a remarkable achievement few can match. A famous non-conformist, the Spaniard's top-tier three-deck mixing skills and ability to distil techno to its most hypnotic form have also long stood him apart, as have his Polegroup and Warm Up labels.

Mulero's consistency of sound means you know what you're going to get with this mix: spaced-out, layered and deep techno brilliance. Whether more dubby and roomy or glitchy and intense, it's music for both mind and body from one of the scene's most low-key but high-class veterans. Turn it up loud and look forward to more of the same when he plays at Dekmantel Festival later this year.

We're back for the #57th episode of our Schimmer podcast series with Sev Dah.

Berlin, Detroit, Birmingham and, of course, Sarajevo.
Bosnian-built and -bred Sev Dah may be a Swedish expat, but the Balkan blackness clings strongly to the bleak percussions and rigidly uneasy synthetics that unwillingly fuse into his strongly individual take on techno. Authentically purveying the pulsations of the nakedly throbbing and ugly world, far away from Starbucks and H&M. 


Signed to respected labels such as Random Island, Mote-Evolver and Kaiser's KSR, he quickly gnawed his way into the scene’s core of DJs and producers. Sev is even managing new projects on his own label Proletarijat since 2016. Like a rabid mongrel, since 1998 he has been chewing and belching new bastard beats that are aching to scream out. Consequently there’s a steaming and steady stream of vinyl releases coming.


With influences ranging from Stigmata and Mills to Master Reese and Petar Dundov, Sev Dah is a versatile but headstrong DJ that can gently ease a thumb in at midnight or fervently thrust it down the hatch at peak time.
