Strongly shaped by the raw and forward-leaning sound of 90’s Techno, Milan based artist Alarico Zucchi started his journey into electronic music in 2015 making his way through clubs as a DJ while learning the art of music production. 

The inauguration of ‘Alarico’ occurred in 2019 after previously exploring several sub-genres of Techno. The alias was formed as a statement to showcase a style that was personal to him. Personal in a way that he became captivated within the patterns and structures of his own sound. So-much-so that his multiple our long podcasts solely consisting of his own material made him stand out from a whole host of young and promising producers and DJs. 

Known for fast paced rhythms and kinky grooves he has released music consistently since his debut in 2020 on Joton’s imprint “Newrhytmic Records”. Shortly after he launched his own vinyl imprint “Katana Records”, which showcases the more mental and introverted side of his idea of Techno. He certainly cemented his rank in today’s Techno landscape through releases on Matrixxman’s highly acclaimed “The Grid”, Token Records and sees a bright future with a forthcoming release on SHDW & Obscure Shape’s newest endeavour “Mutual Rytm”. 

Alarico continues to position himself as a unique music lover, exploring the depths and possibilities of sound. He stands for permanently pushing boundaries and stirring this attitude with his background of Hip Hop and Japanese culture.

2006 marks the starting point of his now primary outlet: P.E.A.R.L. releasing his first tracks on Tsunami Records. In 2012 he moves to Berlin and one year after he founds his own imprint,  Falling Ethics Records, first as an outlet for his own productions and lately opening the doors to other creators like Umwelt or Oscar Mulero.
Recently in 2020-2021, he unleashed a string of hard-hitting tracks and EPs such as Tribal Science on Hector Oaks imprint OAKS or We Will Not All Fall , the first release of his new Falling Ethics sublabel Moral Standards: A subjective look at the current Techno scene with music from artists like Matrixxman, Sunil Sharpe, VCO or Nene H. 
An excellent selector and performer, combining the pulse of pounding grooves in a very eclectic way, always making his sets an unexpected journey.

Could you introduce yourself?
"Hello, I'm Oliver Deutschmann, a DJ and producer hailing from Germany. I have been actively involved in DJing and touring clubs worldwide for quite some time now."

What are your main inspirations?
"I draw inspiration from a wide range of musical genres, including electronic music of various styles, music from the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s, metal, ambient tunes, punk and hardcore, industrial, wave, dub, reggae, and pop, as well as the uniquely German Schlager music. I believe that every musical direction has its own treasures to offer. Additionally, I find inspiration through travel, particularly when I meet a diverse array of people while on tour. Furthermore, my creative wellspring is nourished by my passion for cooking and my penchant for watching a multitude of movies."

What do you want to express with this mix?
"This mix features all 26 tracks from my 'Best Of' compilation, a collection of songs I've produced between 2007 and 2022. I'm excited to share how they harmonize, despite spanning a remarkable 15-year timeframe. I hope you enjoy how they blend together. This compilation is released under my Slim Audio label."

A look back at Philippa Pacho’s profound performance in our Room 01 at the positivesource showcase, which she co-founded hand in hand with Blue Hour. The Stockholm-born artist delivered a knife-edged vision to techno during a two-hour memorable set at her imprint night in Fuse.
 
Like a gentle hold, Philippa's narration is as tactile as poignant. Dark without being obscure, musing yet energetic, no one can doubt the decade of musicality that has flowed through her veins ever since. Drawn to sharp kicks or a few clipped vocals here and there, Philippa Pacho's mix is an invitation, or even more an exploration, to a complex and appealing inner world. A stand-out.

Phara spins an intricate, contemporary take on techno while never losing touch with the genre's essence while being heavily influenced by Detroit, Berlin, and the UK sounds, as well as post-punk, wave, EBM, and electro. He emerged on the international scene with the "Next Of Kin" album on Black Sun Records. After EP releases on labels like Soma, SK Eleven, Stockholm LTD, and Planet Rhythm, Phara also founded "Phaaar," his own record label. He's known for his vinyl-only DJ sets, blending fast rhythms, industrial vibes, and dub pulses. 🔊

We are thrilled to release this mix as part of our Mixtape series, since it’s a recording of Phara’s live set for the 29-year-celebration of one of Spandau20's favorite clubs, @fusebrussels . 🖤

"It's a 1:20 h extract of a two-hour set. Recorded using two Korg Electribe EMX-1's, an Oto Boum and a Allen Heath Xone96 Mixer. It was the closing set of the first day of a sold out birthday weekend, right underneath the Brussels South train station. It was the first time I played with two Electribes – definitely a gig I will never forget. Unfortunately, the power in the club went down after a while, which cut the recording in half." 🔥
