The compilation "100 years of Colombia" is a various artist release and a charity project released on Planet X recordings. It covers 99 tracks from 99 artists and is dedicated for the support of the current situation in Colombia where civilians have suffered from serious police brutality. Label boss Exos has mixed all the tracks together in a special mix to showcase the spectrum of the compilation starting with smooth experimental grooves that develops into the more rawness side of Techno. Until now, the compilation has sold more than 13.000 euros. 100% of the income has been donated and  distributed through Coplaz to various human rights organizations in Colombia. We continue the charity project as the compilation is now available at all media platforms, Bandcamp, Beatport, Apple Music, ect ect. Special gratitude to all the artists that supported the project with their contribution and to Bassiani for the invite.

POSSESSION PODCAST #185 - PHILIPPA PACHO

Having grown up in a house where collecting music was the norm, Swedish-born DJ Philippa Pacho has carried this through to her adult life. As a result, the Berlin-based artist is a well-tuned and confident selector who knows how to capture an audience in any given situation.

It all began with her father’s hobby of collecting jazz, blues and folk records. As a teenager, Philippa built her own music library before attending her first rave, and later discovering the underworld of dance music and club culture.

As standard in a community of electronic music heads, Philippa made friends from the scene in Stockholm and in 2010, formed a collective with a handful of girlfriends. Together, the women curated their night every Thursday at 2:35:1; an art gallery and club located in the city center. It was here that Philippa delved into DJing headfirst, taking advantage of the creative freedom on offer and learning the skills of mixing and working the dancefloor until dawn.

With two years of DJing under her belt, by this time she earned a residency at the Stockholm-based club Under Bron — where she remains the longest-running resident since the space opened in 2010 — Philippa’s early sound leant towards hypnotic techno, but she has since graduated to a include myriad of bouncy and tripped-out rhythms within the genre.

Playing at forest raves on the outskirts of Stockholm and upending abandoned warehouses in the city — balanced between Under Bron bookings — these raw experiences infiltrated Philippa’s sound down to the last cadence, resulting in her groove-heavy collection and quick-fire blending.

Making the move to Berlin in 2014 allowed Philippa to flourish and finesse her sound. Known today for merging contemporary and old-school techno while dipping into different tempos and sub-genres, Philippa has played for Ellen Allien’s We Are Not Alone series, Synoid parties and DJ Tool, D.Dan and Hyperaktivist’s event, Mala Junta. Such a diverse range of bookings has allowed her to reveal other dimensions to her sound, and joining MESS line-ups — a collective that celebrates diversity and supporting DIY club culture worldwide — has recently contributed to the growth of Philippa’s profile.

A recent chapter for Philippa sees her founding the label ‘positivesource’ together with Blue Hour. The pair release various artist EPs from artists including Oprofessionell, Newa, Sugar, Alan Backdrop, Rove Ranger, Lady Starlight, LDS, Blue Hour himself and many more.

With the return of nightlife, Philippa’s focus remains crisp and clear; her goal is to get you to move your whole body in expressive ways. She sees herself as a dancer first and foremost and has that always in mind when she performs. "A good DJ set is like a candy bag. You need a bit of the sweet, sour and some unexpected flavours to tickle your taste buds.

Originally from Kyiv in Ukraine, Cook started with producing minimal techno under his first alias - Freeker5. With his first release as Yan Cook in 2011, his sound immediately got deeper and more atmospheric - leaving behind the pacey, dry sound design that he produced as Freeker5. Since, Yan Cook has been putting music out very regularly - often 5 or 6 releases a year. 

With a sound meant for darkly lit clubs, Yan Cook’s work proves to be useful in a variety of atmospheres within that world - small or large capacity, no matter which city.

Growing up in the late 80s, under the influence of acid house & the impact of Belgian Techno, Milton started to shape his sound around electronic music that led him to create his own label  “Do Not Resist the Beat!” in 2008. Constantly searching and experimenting with new sounds he also created the 90s acid-inspired project “Alien Rain” and the ambience project, “The End Of All Existence”, which he premiered live at the Berlin Atonal festival in 2014. Leidy van ’t Leven, also known as LVTL is Colombian born and currently based in Amsterdam. Whereas a late bloomer considering Techno, she is certain of her destination. Since visiting her first Techno festival at age 23 the two have been inseparable. Ultimately she has decided to take her stand behind the decks to be able to share her passion with like-minded explorers. The Berghain is her main source of inspiration and she proudly presents this by using her refined dark, industrial elements in her dynamic sets.

His unique eclectic sounds are supported by some of the biggest DJ’s in the electronic music scene nowadays. Sept has played many of the most respected venues and festivals in Europe with his Tresor Berlin debut being one of the highlights in his young career.

Sept is also an active music and club culture promoter. Within 3 years he was involved into organizing more than 30 events all around Poland. In 2018 he became resident DJ at Warsaw’s Jasna 1, Katowice’s P23, and German warehouse project Project Sued.

Der gebürtige Hamburger ist auf der Reeperbahn längst kein unbekannter mehr, so hat es sein Name auch mittlerweile nach Berlin geschafft.
Sein Sound ist eine einzigartige treibende, impulsive und dunkle Reise, die die Menschen in einen euphorischen Geisteszustand versetzt. 
Er ist nicht nur Resident DJ bei Waagenbau, Hamburg, sondern hat seine Musik auch in Europa und Asien veröffentlicht. 
Außerdem veröffentlichte er diverse cluborientierte Tracks auf Labels wie Dunkelheit, Sweet Musique, Progressiv Astronaut und wurde von großen Namen wie Teenage Mutants, BoyNextDoor, BAAL und Yubik geremixed. 
Vor wenigen Jahren erfand er seine eigenen Veranstaltungsreihe in Hamburg mit einem durchdachten Gesamtkonzept in Sachen Gestaltung. 
Saburas authentischer und voll energischer Rave-Stil repräsentiert seinen subkulturellen Hintergrund. 
Nicht nur das upcycelte Kostüm ist einen Besuch auf seinen einzigartigen Spielplätzen wert.

For this mix I wanted to do the complete opposite of how I DJ in a club. Normally I play three or four tracks at once, layering sounds and loops with them and cutting between them very quickly and aggressively. Here I am letting the tracks almost play out in full and taking a calmer, more relaxed approach. The tracks themselves range from music from Stephen Mallinder's debut solo LP Pow Wow from back in 1982 to upfront promos I've received in the last few days, there is some deeper techno but it is mainly melodic and atmospheric tracks.
