Kaluki Musik sets opens 2017 on fine form with ‘Smoke Signals Vol.1’, featuring Patrick Topping, Richy Ahmed, Pirate Copy and Francisco Allendes.

With 2016 marking a milestone for the Kaluki imprint via releases from Carlo Lio, Citizenn, Jey Kurmis and label founders Pirate Copy, 2017 is set to elevate the party and record label to new levels. Perfectly setting the tone for what’s to come the imprints first release welcomes two key players in contemporary house onto it’s roster, namely Hot Creations’ very own Patrick Topping and Richy Ahmed, whilst also shining light on one of the promising up and coming acts this year, Francisco Allendes.
Patrick Topping’s ‘Yes Chief’ takes the lead on the package with throbbing subs and shuffled snares running alongside electro arpeggios and old school rave chants before Richy Ahmed’s ‘Visions’ lays down robust rhythms, a fluttering bass line and hooky vocal shots with a steadily blossoming dynamic.

Label-heads Pirate Copy step up next with ‘House Music’, as the name would suggest laying down a straight dance floor focused house groove and instilling some hip-house vocal accompaniments before Francisco Allendes’ ‘House Train’ closes out the package on a stripped-back vibe, focusing on raw percussive and spiralling bass swells.

Hottrax boss Jamie Jones teams up with Nathan Barato for a pair of rhythmic cuts titled ‘Cherry’s Revenge’.

Nathan Barato has been a staple on Jamie Jones’ Hot Creations imprint and Paradise events ever since gracing both of them in 2014. Reflecting on recent releases via Saved Records and Cajual, the Toronto native has continued rolling out releases in fine form, and his global gig schedule reflects his candescent reputation. On the other hand, Jamie Jones has been helming his multiple successful labels when not releasing on Kerri Chandler’s Kaoz Theory and Dusky’s 17 Steps; continuing to cement his name as one of the world’s most illustrious DJs, producers and label owners.

Composed of intricate percussion and sporadic synth stabs, ‘Cherry’s Revenge’ sees Jones and Barato in fine form. The dancefloor focused roller blends rumbling bass and robust snares with chopped vox samples and whirling police sirens, forming a production destined to inject life into any situation. On the flip, ‘Cheating Chester’ samples a Sunset Boulevard working girl discovering the cheating exploits of her pimp boyfriend and mashes it with mesmerising effects, tight hats, a purring baseline and distorted synths.

The title track delivers some of his finest work, building intensity over a spiraling bass groove and perfectly timed breakdowns that keep you wanting more. Matching the quality and gusto of its predecessors, 'Distance' is a force to be reckoned with, as it pumps along slamming drums supported by equally powerful bass and rave synth accents.

Waitz - Involution EP (Out Now)

Roush returns with a fresh new edition of its OFF Sonar Sampler this June, featuring tracks from the likes of Javi Bora & Piem, Jairo Delli, FreedomB and more. Founded by Hector Couto back in 2013, Roush looks set to enjoy it's biggest year to date, celebrating it's fifth anniversary in style having already welcomed notable names such as Steve Lawler, DJ W!ld, Tuccillo and Phil Weeks to the label. With Sonar just around the corner, the Tenerife based imprint continues it's 'Sampler' series this June, delivering thirteen fresh cuts that are set to make an impact across Barcelona's infamous OFF week. Label favourite Javi Bora opens proceedings alongside Piem to deliver the dynamic 'King Of Vila', before rising talent Jairo Delli delivers 'Body Pi', fusing slick percussion fills and vibrant synth builds. Next up, FreedomB and Space Jump Salute combine on 'All Night Tonight', whilst Gav Whitehouse lays down chunky kicks and spiraling lead lines for his label debut entitled 'They're Coming".
