Despite the maddening extensions of worldwide lockdowns and a lack of any real dancefloor action, the team here at Raw Tactics have been hard at work regardless, tunneling away into the more underground stretches of UK to once again supply you all with a certified heater for the summer season. We are thrilled therefore to be unleashing our latest system-ready weapon as three serious heavyweights combine for ‘Vibe Machine.’

So first of all, Dubzta, a producer who needs no introduction whatsoever, boasting an incredible catalogue of grime, dubstep and garage instrumentals alongside some of the most illustrious labels and MCs out there. So, when you then couple this with the magnificent vocal talents of Manchester’s own Peppery, one of the UK’s most underrated dancehall figures, and of course our very own Tigs, we sure are in for one hell of a treat.

The single itself forms a marvelous fusion of Tigs’ colourful melodic energy and harmonic structure alongside Dubzta’s lethal drum design and raucous bass manipulation to give us a sumptuous stomper of an instrumental to begin with. When you then layer the toasted vocal delights of Peppery on top, we have both a singalong anthem and a system slapper, complete with the vibrant instrumental version for good measure. It’s a fantastic link up that we are thrilled to be adding to the rapidly expanding Raw
Tactics catalogue.

As always here at Raw Tactics, we want to do our utmost to represent the UK underground on a global scale, showcasing some of the most unique sounds out there via our release schedule. This next drop from us is a fantastic way to let you know exactly what the label is all about as we welcome four of our regular production whizzes back to provide the instrumentals behind the ‘3.0’ EP, a masterclass in new school grime and 140 flavour from Lenzez. 

You can tell right from the off that this is an important for Lenzez, who opens up with a story-telling experience on ‘Longest Time’, looking through his personal history and experiences as a vocalist, given a stupendous push by Dubzta’s stunning instrumental display below. The combination of passionate vocal performances and outstanding production work behind is a running theme of the project, with ‘Be An Artist’ being another example of this, seeing Zemon provide a choppy, industrial crunch of an instrumental, over which Lenzez lets fly a lethal array of skippy flow patterns and intricate rhythmic arrangements. 

Next up, Fork And Knife arrives for a more experimental take on the typical grime sound, providing a skippy yet glitchy instrumental structure for Lenzez to run riot over. That he does with another intense vocal performance, focussing on skippy rhyme schemes and unpredictable inflections, keeping the listener on their toes the whole way through. Finally, we welcome Tigs on production duty as ‘Lazy 3.0’ gives us the classic anthem feel the EP has been needing, as vibrant string lines and a well structured instrumental gives Lenzez the space to build the catchiest hook of the whole EP.

What a fantastic full introduction this is for Lenzez, who shows both his consistency and versatility across the breadth of this excellent project.

Within the numerous realms of electronic dance music, international collaboration and alignment has become more and more important and is something that runs through the heart of Raw Tactics Records. The inception of the label in fact originally came from the founding sounds of the Brighton-based Tigs building a self releasing platform, that through a combination of emigrating to Melbourne, Australia and a high demand from surrounding artists has now developed into one of the most exciting imprints out there. 

There is a real vibrancy about the label’s approach, firstly within their now extensive roster, which features the likes of SBK, Goldfinger (Virus Syndicate), Dubzta, Fork & Knife, Zemon, Angus Green and many more very popular names. That vibrancy also finds itself weaving its way into every single release, with the catalogue being carefully curated with a need for individuality and originality, a pair of traits that are easy to forget as labels start to systemize and grow. 

The imprint's unique blend of underground UK genres, including garage, grime and bass, has also helped establish the platform as one of the most forward thinking projects to emerge in a hot minute. Since their inception in 2016, the pace is yet to stop quickening and the platform continues to reign in support and appreciation from across the numerous scenes their sounds emulate from, making the future more exciting than ever before.
