Matteo & Amedeo Giovanelli are the latest recruits from the ever-growing Grey Area Bookings roster and we have caught them just before a rather exciting release of theirs. 

Some may have seen or even experienced first hand Vaal and the Life and Death crew hammering Mathame's highly anticipated EP at ADE this year which is due to arrive on Vaal’s very own Baastard label later this month. 

Having already released on labels such as Connaisseur Recordings and Souvenir Music the pair are certainly paving their way for a very interesting project within the underground music community.

Mantra Recording XVII - Mathame

MatHame is the pseudonym of a young Italian artist. He has been living on the slopes of an active volcano, where he studies and works, for four years. He grew up upon hearing the remains of Radio Taxi, an 80's pirate radio station, once active in northern Italy. He's got a classical education through studying violin at the conservatory, where he, soon after listening to Alva Noto's Modul1, started dipping into the world of electronic music. So far so good.

Their vocal-laced sound morphs between experimental club music and more cinematic passages, with the signature style ever-present. The emotionally stirring sound of Mathame is back on Afterlife.

Their signature, processed vocals shine on the infectious and entrancing ‘For Every Forever’. It’s a sound they have developed over their releases for Afterlife and is now truly their own. A Dub Mix of the title track offers a slightly more pared down alternative. ‘Stairway 3000’ completes the record, an eyes-down roller with a bassline to shake any room to its core.
