Ten years in the making, the debut long player from Funk Style Quality aka FSQ was released in 2020, the album featuring an all-star cast of funk legends: 
George Clinton & Parliament-Funkadelic, Nona Hendryx, Fonda Rae, Denise King, and Dolette McDonald. The album was the brainchild of two of the most influential forces in Soul Clap’s musical journey, Chuck ‘Da Fonk’ Fishman and 
Sa’d ‘The Hourchild’ Ali (RIP). The original concept tells the story of someone with one last chance to have the party of their life! Now Soul Clap Records proudly present
 Reprise Reprise Tonight the remixes.
 
Kicking off with the king of Nu-disco Ray Mang, and his Reprise Tonight (Second Time Around Dub). Mang makes use of the slo-mo funk and delivers a timbale-tinged remix led by the vocals of Philadelphia's disco and jazz chanteuse Denise King.  Michael The Lion worked his remixes of Reprise Tonight and Vibe Out Now early in the album process, and here he ups the energy with an early 90s piano house rub, plus his new rework of Vibe Out Now that extends the original, turning it into a sleazy after-hours disco-house affair. 

Sa'd The Hourchild Ali shared the tracks early on with Tom Moulton who quickly turned in his A Tom Moulton Mix of Vibe Out Now and The Infinite Reprise. Moulton refines the FSQ approach and shows that less is more, as he pairs back the orchestral strings to their most melodic elements and strips back the layers of this epic tune.  Birdee goes in a different direction on Dancefloor Democracy, with a Nu-disco version for those who want a more vigorous workout.  Dr Rubberfunk's mix of the same cut captures the heart of the original sessions at FSQ’s G Koop's in Oakland California, where both Funkadelic Billy Bass Nelson and George Clinton's son Trey Lewd laid down the guitar lines. 

Jitwam’s Trouble Remix of Dancefloor Democracy speeds up the rhythm with cosmic synth pads and new guitar parts providing the perfect backdrop for interplanetary vocalists and living legend  George Clinton and his son, Trey Lewd.  Charlie Soul Clap isn't afraid to dial up the tempo on Peel Back which features Nona Hendryx. His Breakbeat for Ya Feet flies at 130 bpm and is set against a grainy old school beat that puts the tune right back in ’97!   Lee Curtiss turns in a Prince inspired effort of What They Don't Know led by 
Talking Heads vocalist Dolette McDonald.

Closing out the package,  DJ Rocca rinses FSQ and Fonda Rae (Over Like a Fat Rat, Touch Me) 11:00 AM, turning in a lush Italo disco cut with huge arpeggios, wide analog riffs, beautiful pads, and big electro drums. Fonda Rae sounding totally at home in
 DJ Rocca's Italo Disco zone.

Mariʼs album ʻGentle Beautyʼ produced together with singer songwriter Mozez (of Zero 7 fame) was released back in 2012 on Numen Records. Ray Mang took a shine to the second single ʻFreeʼ taking the vocals and piano from the original and re-crafting it into a stellar piece of modern euphoric disco. Presented here on heavyweight 180g 12” vinyl in three versions for your listening pleasure.

From its first play during Rayʼs DJ appearance at London party institution Low Life back in 2012 this track has been causing goose bumps.

Celebrated and Mercury-nominated UK duo Rae & Christian released their first new material for ten years in 2013 on Night Time Stories/Late Night Tales after spending the last decade meditating in a Buddhist monastery in Swindon. This year the label commissioned a series of remixes from Mercury Rising and Mang Dynasty (aka Ray Mang & Bill Brewster) take on Favourite Game featuring rising star of the Swindon Buddhist circuit Jake Emlyn.

Mang Dynasty focus on Gita Langleyʼs backing vocal hooks, adding a chorus piano motif and stretch things out into an epic nine minute plus main version aimed squarely at the dancefloor (and Afghanistan). Jake Emlynʼs more aurally-pleasing melodic parts are utilised towards the end taking things up another level to a happy finish. Initial reactions have been so strong it seemed rude not to slip out a 12-inch on Mangled, home of the hits. And here we already are, in the next, the third 12inch round of the Sonar Kollektiv/Daniel Grau remix orgy. This time Ray Mang, Soul Clap, Debonair and Trujillo together with Miguel Molina are in on it.
The Venezuelan six-piece combo Los Amigos Invisibles did re-record „ El León Bailarín” off Grau's album by the same title from 1980 and the UK disco king Ray Mang hand-crafted a bass driven, dubfunky slammer out of it. That's the music the most beautiful girls in town want to wiggle their hips to.
Sitting still will also be no option hearing the extra funked-up remix of “To Night” by US duo Soul Clap together with Bosq. This is, by the way, a brand new track by Daniel Grau (after a 30 years enduring creative sabbatical) and is up to now only available on „The Magic Sound Of Daniel Grau – compiled by Jazzanova & Trujillo” (SK281CD / LP).
The Australian Debonair comes in with his remix for „Atlantis“ (off Grau's 1979 released album „Disco Fantasy“) not less lascivious at all and pyramids the synth chords with added delays in a fashion you start to feel like somebody is pulling the rug out from under your feet. That was probably his initial intention and he succeeds brilliantly.
On the digital release you get another remix of „Delirio En Fa Menor” as a bonus track. On Reworks Vol. 2 (SK 289) there was already an adaption by Berlin based Max Graef and Delfonic. But while their remix could be assigned to the new school of beatmaking, the remix by Trujillo and Miguel Molina belongs explicitly in the crate labelled „Nu Disco“, right before the „Cosmic“ shelf.
This is the sexy sound of Venezuela today!

After the success of their collaboration with Mozezʼ girlfriend Mariʼs track Free a couple of years ago, Mozez invited Ray to do some versions of something from his new album Wings recently released on Numen Records. Run River with its powerful gospel vocal harmonies and disco tinged guitar seemed the obvious choice. Mozez (Zero 7, Nightmares On Wax) teams up with Ray Mang for some gospel disco infused versions of Run River, a track from his new album Wings.

After the success of their collaboration with Mozezʼ girlfriend Mariʼs track Free a couple of years ago, Mozez invited Ray to do some versions of something from his new album Wings recently released on Numen Records. Run River with its powerful gospel vocal harmonies and disco tinged guitar seemed the obvious choice. Presented here on heavyweight 180g 12” vinyl in three versions for your listening pleasure with digital to follow.

We gave it to them straight: “Let us remix your song or weʼre taking all the meatballs.”

Having heard the baggy psychedelic beauty that is ʻRushing Through My Mindʼ on Lauren Laverneʼs 6Music show, we thought we could do a number on it. Turn it into a psychedelic disco record (with added meatballs). We think we managed it, reliving the rushy highs from indie-danceʼs finest moments of 1991.

For those of you unaware of the splendid Swedish rockersʼ groovy workings, they have already released two albums, debut Horse Dance in 2015 and last yearʼs excellent Mirage, from which the ecstatic ʻRushing...ʼ comes.

The release comes on Joe Bugner-style heavyweight vinyl (180g) complete with Instrumental and Radio Edit. Mang Dynasty is Ray Mang and Bill Brewster.

Nona Hendryx is an original member of the trio Labelle who’s smash single “Lady Marmalade” is a timeless classic. Her solo singles “Transformation” and “Do What You Wanna Do” from the 80’s are equally prolific to her work as a back-up vocalist for a laundry list of legendary acts including Parliament-Funkadelic, Talking Heads and Peter Gabriel. 

There is magic contained in ‘Shine (This Is It)’ and the strength in Hendryx's vocal empowers our sprits and moves us on the dancefloor. Midnight Magic’s Morgan Wiley delivers an outstanding keyboard solo and fellow bandmate Jason Disu teams up with Kalí Rodríguez and No Regular Play’s Greg Paulus to form the Soul Clap horn section.

Taking the magical vocals, horns and keyboard solo from the original, Ray Mang gives it a latin house twist adding an elevating Rhodes motif, bass and battery. Presented here in three versions on 180gram vinyl.

Ray Mang is Laj is Raj Gupta. One of the premier disco producers since way back when and still clocking forwards in a future fashion with no sign of letting up. He landed his first 12” Number One in ’96 on Noid Recordings gaining widespread support in the clubs and on compilations. He has taken that wonky party sound and kept it moving on ever since.  He also runs the label Mangled and has released across too many labels to mention. He is prolific with the quality control on high.

He launched his own label Mangled in ’98 with a slew of killer 12-inches. Two albums followed: ‘Mangled’ (Eskimo) and ‘Mangled Again’ on his own imprint, as well as singles on R&S, Smash Hit and Bear Funk. Recent hits include ‘Bullet Proof’ on DFA featuring Lady Miss Kier, a disco-house reimagining of a P-funk classic; and the blissed-out Balearic gem ‘Look Into My Eyes’ which instantly became a firm favourite for many.

His many talents as a musician and producer have driven a wealth of collaborations: in bands Block 16 and Motif on seminal ’90s label Nuphonic; as Laj with the Idjut Boys on U-Star, or with Quakerman on their own Fiasco imprint; and with close musical acquaintances The Glimmers, Foolish Felix, Lee Tong and Nathan D’Troit.  More recently Ray has teamed up with Bill Brewster to form Mang Dynasty.  In all his guises Ray Mang is one of the most prolific contributors to the UK disco/house canon.

As a remixer his phone never stops ringing.  He’s notched up credits for  Lassigue Bendthaus, Banda Black Rio, Gorillaz, Shirley Bassey, Grand National, Beck, Roxy Music / Bryan Ferry, Doves, The Phenomenal Handclap Band, Freddie Mercury, Bloc Party, Munk, Rob Garza, Friendly Fires, Classixx, S-Express, Daniel Grau & Los Amigos Invisibles with Dimitri From Paris to name just a few.
 
As a globe trotting DJ he plays at festivals, clubs, bars and on beaches in some of the most beautiful locations around the world.  His incendiary sets blend house, disco, boogie, cosmic, balearic, latin, afro, along with anything that takes his fancy and sneak previews of his own forthcoming monsters.  As happy playing peak time Saturday night as he is providing the soundtrack to your sunset moment in paradise.  Recent trips have taken him to Brazil, USA, Bali, Japan, Australia, Mexico, Croatia, Ibiza and all over Europe. He has also become a regular at festivals like Electric Elephant, Festival No 6, Campo Sancho and Mareh & O/NDA in Brazil.
