"As with a lot of the mixes I do, it's usually a small, concise cross-section of the sounds that have been floating in and out of my life over the years. I like digging out things, new and old, then finding a new purpose and position for it within the capacity of something like a mix. There is a sense of subtle cohesiveness found when putting together seemingly random tracks next to each other in this way.  And to aid that cohesive effort on this particular mix, I sourced tunes that I think are mostly, in someway, derived from Hip-Hop foundations. Also I slipped in a couple cuts from from one of my favourite films 'Basquiat' at the beginning and end to set some kind of a tone for the mix (whatever that might be). Ultimately, it's designed to give people an ear rousing and interesting 40-plus minute dip into the messy, meandering river that is my eclectic taste of music.  Click play at your own peril."

Ray Foxx stamped his name into the world with his 8 track Mixtape, containing the huge track ‘The Trumpeter’ which was heavily supported by Annie Mac, Zane Lowe, DJ Target and Trevor Nelson to name just a few. Later that year, supplied with vocals by Lovelle the track moved into the UK dance charts as ‘La Musica’ (Defected) helping to prove that he is a cut above the rest.

Since that moment Ray has been crafting and working on developing his productions and DJ career, which has taken him around the world including massive shows in the UK, Ibiza, Bali, South Africa and all around Europe. Ray Foxx now has a monthly slot on newly re-launched internet station Pyro Radio. This year Ray Foxx has had releases on Billy Kenny's This Ain’t Bristol with ‘What’s That’ and teamed up with Australia’s LO’99 on ‘The Lick/Vaults’ for Sharam Jey’s label Bunny Tiger. September sees the launch of Ray Foxx’s own label imprint Foxx Head Music, with the debut release coming out at the end of the month.

After contributing a smashing remix to the first release on Blank, UK producer Kalyde is coming back to the emerging German imprint with a fantastic EP of his own. Growing up in Detroit, he never got involved with electronic music until he went to university in Bristol, where he honed his production and DJ skills before resettling in London. Not long after that crucial step, an impressive string of releases followed on great labels like Skint, Madtech, Avotre and Roush. Kalyde has rapidly advanced to be one of the most exciting new talents in the UK’s modern house & techno scene, and also has become a sure shot on DJ sets of big players from the likes of Annie Mac, Loco Dice, Eats Everything and many more.

Kalyde is famous for his fantastic ability to provide a huge energy boost without getting reckless, no matter if at one of his legendary extended DJ sets or in the studio cooking up the next big dancefloor banger. The Clone EP on Blank is the perfect representation of this sentiment. Every single track is a bona fide floor filler designated to land in the crates of the best house & techno DJs on the planet. The title track explores Kalyde’s very own vision of acid house, combining a frenetic bassline with his infallible energetic signature. Next up is the absolutely fascinating track “Omulate”, which features a highly hypnotic voice sample and recalls the dark uplifting feeling of immortal Detroit classics. With the last original cut on the EP “White Shadow”, the young producer delivers another acid techno stomper, this time taking a drift to darker musical spheres. Closing this massive EP, the UK techno veterans Mak & Pasteman step up for a unique remix treatment of “Omulate”, mutating this track into a huge techno bomb prepared to cause serious damage on big, dark dancefloors all around the world.

For most producers, Roy Davis Jr. & Peven Everett's 'Gabriel' is the holy grail of untouchable tracks. A bona fide classic and a record that holds a sacred place in the hearts of many, 'Gabriel' was an evocative crossover garage anthem that impacted dance music profoundly on its release in 1996, having its roots in garage but with elements of deep house that inspired selectors and remixers across all the dance music genres. It's a record that not many would dare to mess with, so when Ray Foxx took up the challenge of covering one of his all-time favourite records, he didn't take it lightly. With meticulous attention to detail, recording brand new trumpet parts from John Thirkwell and carnival-inspired percussion from Shovell, and pinning it together with rolling layered production, this is the ultimate contemporary reinvention. Following hit records like 'Boom Boom (Heartbeat)' and 'La Musica (The Trumpeter)' Ray Foxx pays respect to the legacy of 'Gabriel' wholeheartedly, with an update that's hard not to love.
