La Ciudad

The name of the EP AMANE means "circle" and "sounds from heaven" in Japanese. It is an aspirational work created by weaving together different sound phenomenon like water, breathing, metal, and sounds that are produced when the practice of human and non-human elements repel each other when they are confronted with the environment. The album contains 3 songs, "shizuku #1," "iki #1," and "gén #1".

The making of the MV and artwork for "shizuku #1" is created by Akiko Nakayama, a renowned artist at music festivals around the world. For the recording of "iki #1," the color tone of sho, a traditional Japanese reed instrument is used. Tamami Tono, one of the very few professional sho-players also performed for the recording of this song.

All 3 songs are mixed by recording engineer, zAk.

Ray Kunimoto

Sound Artist

Born in New York, 1991 and Based in Brooklyn, New York. Graduated from Keio University, Bachelor of Arts, Aesthetics and Science of Arts.
Since N.O.R.K. disbanded in 2015, a R&B duo that Kunimoto initially formed with Nariaki Obukuro, he has been composing music for installation works that are displayed in museums, and creating artworks using an original speaker system that he uniquely developed. He relocated to New York in 2017. In 2018, he joined saxophonist Yasuaki Shimizu on an European tour; as a duo he was responsible for sound programming and he also performed on the keyboards.
Compose music and sound programing for installations in Japan and overseas. Creating new musical experiences that also involve acoustic design in spaces.
Recent activities include the installations “Multiface - Eclipse #1 (2017)”, “Multiface-Uniformity #1 (2017)”.
