Emergence

This piece was written about my best friend who I have known since I was nine months old. He has always been there for me and I don’t know where I would be without him. It is a slow ballad comprised of two main melodies that interplay with each other and support each other. Each melody is important in its own right and will sound beautiful on its own, but will be accented and improved with the other melody added into it. This is how our friendship is and will hopefully continue to be.

I wanted to write an easier band piece that still sounds pretty. Teaching in a smaller school made me want to write more music for smaller band and that was accessible to the students. It is only comprised of four parts that are then orchestrated throughout the band. This allows the parts to be interchangeable if necessary. This piece was not written to be complicated but to be beautiful and simple. If you are interested in playing the piece please email me at Horvat.rj@gmail.com.
