Uploaded to SoundCloud for the very first time - this is my debut album that I originally released back in June 2022. It is just a collection of some of my favourite MPC beats that I made between 2012-2022. It is not mixed fully and definitely not mastered but I go for an underground sound and not a commercial, clean aesthetic. 

Anyways, I hope you enjoy some of the tracks.

Alaska & Paradox - 'Sesi Mirage' - (Warm 039 12")

Since Plastician's blistering Wavepool 2 compilation last year, many have been wondering how long the wait would be for some brand new music from the man himself.

Fast forward almost a year, and he's ready to drop 7 brand new tracks on Terrorhythm, in what is his biggest solo release of new music on the label since his critically acclaimed debut album "Beg To Differ" in 2007.

"I wanted to pick up where Beg To Differ left off", Chris Reed tells. Across 7 tracks, his Grime & Dubstep roots are still audible, with a healthy influx of Wave influenced numbers to boot, this really does feel like a view into the mind of Plastician some 11 years on from Beg To Differ, minus the now legendary shellings of Skepta & co.

Whilst the Grime vocals are noticeably missing from this outing, Reed explains this was out of choice this time: "I'm sat on 4 or 5 vocal tracks as well as a couple of straight up Grime instrumentals. I've toyed with the idea of adding them for months on end, but the energy was just not quite correct next to the bits I've stuck on".

Plastician tells us the Grime bits are to be held for their own release in the near future following "Overdue", an E.P. named due to the lateness of the release, as well as an ode to his two children who were born beyond full-term pregnacy.

The trilogy ends with an experimental sonic concoction of techno infused drum & bass as his final mission to evade captivity and remain at large.

‘Untitled Pattern 65’ documents our cosmonaut’s greatest adventure yet. Defying reason and convention, this techno-charged missing link delves deep as a progressive, acid-techno, stepper from the 6th dimension.

Yet another testament to the proficiency of one of the universe’s most extraordinary producers is ‘Untitled Pattern 63’ - a garage infused hip-hop hybrid with a dash of dub. Like a pulsating heartbeat, ‘Untitled Pattern 62’ guides through a whimsical vocal and melancholic pads with a cozy sub-bass.

As gravity takes hold and his feet remain firmly on the ground ‘Untitled Pattern 64‘ chimes through with distorted lo-fi ambience, and is the ultimate transmission to signify the end of his untitled adventures.

We’re excited to announce the return of Manchester-based producer Earl Grey for his latest release on Inperspective Records. Earl Grey’s repertoire includes releases on esteemed labels such as Eastern Promise Audio, Plush Recordings, Subtle Audio Recordings, Western Lore and his own Hyperchamber Music. Following the success of his experimental Headwinds LP and his addition to the “Teddy Bear Trilogy”, Earl Grey now brings dynamic new EP ‘French Exit’ to Inperspective Records. 

Opener ‘False Horns’ is a deep track with a sinister build, teasing in an eerie horn sound to create an atmospheric soundscape, with the hypnotic, jazzy fused breakbeat finishing what is an outstanding start to the incredible EP. ‘After They Turn The Rigs Off’ adds an electrifying complexity that takes us on a journey, leading with vocal samples and a piercing beat, before transporting us to a spiritual world through echoing chants and a lighter sound. ‘Mime Jar Lens’ is refreshingly toned-down in comparison to the previous exhilarating tracks. Nonetheless, it packs its own punch, with sharp breaks and an ambient jazzy style that is captivating and dreamy.

Title-track ‘French Exit’ is eerie in a way that will have you hanging on for every beat, as it breaks sonic boundaries and pulls you down into a deep underworld. Earl Grey demonstrates his hypnotic powers, drawing us out from the superbly dark world of the previous track and into the light, dreamy sound of ‘Lessons Learnt.’ ‘Hypothermic’ rounds of this release with a rolling, richly atmospheric track. This closer seamlessly combines both the lighter, ethereal sounds and moodier, dark tones of the other tracks.

‘French Exit’ presents a masterful collection of tracks that twist and turn, but remain united by their richly atmospheric sound. Earl Grey marks his third Inperspective Records release with an invigorating, unique EP, pushing the boundaries of drum and bass.
