Release thirty-three has Manjumasi going down under for a showcase of deliciously groovy lo-fi minimal house music from Australian producer Michaelis. Each of the three originals puts forth a heady mix of restrained beats and basslines, complemented by a bevy of subtle sonic details, playful melodic flourishes and washes of ambient texture. The arrangements evolve gradually and intentionally, leaving plenty of time to get absolutely lost in the groove.

Two remixes of Special Assistance round out the package. The first comes from label co-founder Mark Slee, whose Rusty Transistor Dub takes the track in a more melody-forward direction with a modulated FM synth lead that meanders its way through the mix. Next up is Kooscha, another Australian master of minimal groove, with a remix that takes the track into a darker, late-night territory with a focus on atmospherics and a bit of extra shuffle in the groove.

Making his label debut with the lone interpretation of ‘Plans & Plants’ is Retza. 

Hailing from Australia but now calling the UK home, Retza has firmly etched his place in the deep and organic global movement. With well over a decade of production experience, the London resident has showcased his exotic sound via All Day I Dream, Balance Music, Kindisch, SATYA, Sound Avenue and his own Retza imprint, amongst others. Also an accomplished DJ, Retza has travelled the world showcasing his unique selections and exquisite programming skills, while also holding a weekly residency on London’s highly regarded Bloop Radio. 

Now, following a remix for YokoO’s SATYA imprint to end the year, Retza opens 2024 making his Refraction debut with a groovy rendition of ‘Plans & Plants’. Taking a more direct dancefloor approach, while maintaining the elusive spirit of the original, the Aussie native constructs a fluid rhythmic core, complemented with meticulously manicured percussion, acidic motifs and timely vocal fragments. It’s this amalgamation of sound which ultimately makes for a versatile and club-effective version; a brilliant re-imagination that’s likely to find favor with a broad range of DJs across the coming months.

It's been a while since Antonio Romano's debut EP on La Zic back in March 2024: the cosmos has kept expanding, mutating its structure, and our musical universe has evolved like we would have never expected it before.

Nils Hess label owner of Eukatech Records which started in 1996 and become Independent Record Label of the year in 2001 at the Muzik Magazine awards and is also a monthly resident of Supernova, the monthly club /promotion night at the Egg London King Cross. 
It is great to see Nils Hess making music again this time for Martine Record’s this track seems to have all the finest ingredients to get a dance floor moving. With a hook that entices you into the musical journey and the acid line which has a grin bigger then an Acid smiley, and with the vocal so lush, focusing on a white Surface and people making Love, what more can you ask for.
