Cor.ece is a whole vibe. The LA-based vocalist and songwriter recently exploded onto the scene through an incendiary collaboration with Honey Dijon on her Defected singles “Unleash” and “Work,” and now Cor.ece delivers his own unique musical statement with his solo debut on RNT, the Dance To Keep From Crying EP.

Leading the project is Possibly Impossible, with RNT’s JKriv on production and Dave Giles III on the mic. The A-side fuses airy and expansive vocal soundscapes with a certifiably infectious hook, and shows Cor.ece’s dynamism as a performer and songwriter.

Nothing But Me rides a low-slung groove, leaving room for Corece’s vocal percussion & lyricism, before Sky85 arrives as a moody late-nite R&B burner. With sultry vocal textures layered over a driving machine drum beat and electro bassline, the LA singer delves into darker vocal territory in this song that's as hauntingly emotive as it is catchy.

The title track Dance To Keep From Crying, produced by JKriv and featuring the keyboard wizardry of Jason Lindner, elevates energy with crisp house kicks and a punchy analog-tinged bassline igniting the two-step, while closing duty comes with What’s The Word’s acidic synth-driven deviance featuring Danny Kane.

With interlude skits from Darrell J. Hunt sprinkled throughout the EP, Cor.ece brings it full circle on his first feature length project.

Dam Swindle delve deep into the Salsoul Records impressive back catalogue to present another two fresh, exciting remixes and edits of two of the label’s classics - Double Exposure ‘Everyman’ and Kongas ‘Kongas Fun’, released on 27 August. 

Following the duo’s acclaimed Vol.1 of remixes and edits of First Choice ‘Let No Man Put Asunder’ and Kebekelektrik ‘War Dance’, Dam Swindle immediately selected Double Exposure ‘Everyman’ because “the original had everything in it to get a classic Dam Swindle treatment”. Their remix takes the original up a tempo, yet still showcases the swirling strings and deliciously soulful Double Exposure vocals.

As with Kebekelektrik ‘War Dance’ from Vol.1, Dam Swindle chose Kongas ‘Kongas Fun’ which is a side project of Cerrone who, like Gino Soccio, was “so influential in the history of disco”. The vibrant, shimmering update is packed full of energetic percussion and proves why Dam Swindle chose to rework this lesser-known delight.  

Since forming in 2011, Amsterdam-based Lars Dales and Maarten Smeets aka Dam Swindle quickly broke through the electronic music scene. They have become known for their widescreen approach to making and playing club-ready grooves. From deep to disco, tech to soul, they join the dots between the past and the present with their own sense of storytelling and do so in clubs around the world, and in their own studio. 

Salsoul Records was founded in 1974 in New York by the Cayre brothers and represented names such as Loleatta Holloway (Love Sensation), First Choice, Instant Funk, Joe Bataan, The Salsoul Orchestra and produced some of the most sampled and beloved records of all time.

"The late 70’s soul and funk hymn “I Think I’ll Do Some Stepping (On My Own)” by New York based singer Sandy Barber got reworked for modern vintage requirements. The original version was featured on Sandy Barber’s album “The Best Is Yet To Come.” from 1978 and it’s reconstruction has been done by Opolopo from Stockholm. The dj and producer from Sweden previously appeared on labels like Swedish Brandy Productions, Local Talk, Tokyo Dawn Records or Ebo Records with modern house sounds and a strong soul affection. His currently released work is a classical edit that breathes the emotive energy of a strong base material but should also delight unprejudiced ears and dancing feet, because the art of editing has been done with a keen sense in here. Slight changes and cuts, as well as decently added sounds straightens the original with its musical complexity and different parts into an ongoing late night disco soul pleasure. Very nice! (Jan) "

You know Munk probably from the songs he did with James Murphy, Peaches, Asia Argento or one of many other indie disco tracks he released on his former label Gomma. Gomma now is sleeping and since Mathias Munk Modica started the Toy Tonics label with his friends Manuel Kim & Moritz Butschek he hasn’t released many things under that name. Instead he has been playing keyboards, bass and drums on many tracks of other artists on the TT label. And of course has been building up the TT imprint from his new home in Berlin.
Now it’s summer and it felt right to put out a few balearic remixes reworks of Munk tracks. Beach party and daytime disco vibe. So here u get reworks of Munk’s friends Severino from Horse Meat Disco, Lauer, King DJ and Kai Alce from Detroit. Right for this summer.
