Keeping the recent spate of outstanding electronic albums going strong, see Prequel & Felipe Gordon, Sune (@emilsunesson) delivers his own long player via the excellent US label Let's Play House (@lphnyc). Comprising 10 tracks the album veers between  jazzy lo-fi house, squelchy Nu Disco and some very tasty downtempo cuts. It's already been a rich yeah musically and this one keeps it's golden for another month.

Prolific Colombian producer Felipe Gordon returns to RNT to deliver his first offering in a 2wo-EP and album project series. The records kicks off with the swingy Strings of the Afterlife, evoking classic Chez-N-Trent vibes and moves to the sultry emotive tones of The Fall of A Withered Empire. On the flip, Felipe takes us into high gear with the hypnotic looped synth groove and relentless beats of Clásico, and lets us down easy with the jazzy lilt of Julia y Luis. This is a very special EP. As many might know Toy Tonics started as a sublabel of now sleeping German indie dance label Gomma records. Gomma, along with DFA, Output Records and a few other was known for a very ecclectic, different approach in dance music. On this LOST GOMMA MIXES EP you'll find 4 now lost tracks that came out about 10 - 20 years ago on Gomma, but fit very well in today’s zeitgeist again. Pete Herbert, In Flagranti and Jaques Lu Cont are featured. Who knows about modern disco - knows these producers. And there is a very special name here too: Nicky Siano. The now legendary New York DJ used to be resident at Studio 54 and other legendary NYC venues of the 1970ies and 1980ies. One of his remix works was for the Gomma records band The KDMS.

Social Criticism in Lauryn Hill's 'Doo Wop (That Thing)'
Lauryn Hill's song 'Doo Wop (That Thing)' is an empowerment anthem and a sharp social critique, released in 1998 as part of her acclaimed album 'The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill'. The song addresses themes of self-respect, sexuality and the dangers of being carried away by appearances and materialism.
In the first verse, Hill speaks directly to women, warning them about the dangers of allowing themselves to be used by men who are only interested in 'that thing'. She criticizes the idea that women must conform to standards of beauty and behavior in order to be accepted or loved, mentioning 'hair weaves like Europeans' and 'fake nails done by Koreans' as examples of how women are pressured to conform to external standards. The artist also references religious and historical figures, such as Jezebel, to illustrate the consequences of straying from one's own principles and values.
The second verse is directed at men, criticizing those who prioritize material possessions and status over their responsibilities and relationships. Hill calls out toxic behaviors such as domestic violence and irresponsible fatherhood, and questions how these men can hope to succeed in life if they are not right on the inside. The song ends with a dialogue that reflects on the difference between love and being in love, suggesting that true love goes beyond the surface and accepts a person as they are. 'Doo Wop (That Thing)' is a powerful reminder that self-respect and integrity are key, and that we should be aware of the pitfalls of materialism and objectification in interpersonal relationships.

Read the instructions carefully prior to use. After the success of ‘Lene’s Theme’ EP back in July, that was heavily supported throughout the major music platforms and radios including a remarkable fourth spot in Traxsource Deep House Top 10 and a featured in Defected Radio Show, the Leipzig based producer Erik Ellmann returns to PiM with his fourth EP to date on the label. This one is called ‘Somebody Else’. 

The formula is the same as the last EP and is very simple: three tremendous disco cuts with a same drum loop, but each one with a different soul and a catchy groove. Listening to this EP may cause your desires to dance to strongly go up like the vaccine stocks after a worldwide pandemic.
