NYC leftfield disco darlings Phenomenal Handclap Band made their first appearance on RNT by way of a collab with JKriv in 2022, and now they return for an offering all their own, the Burning Bridges EP. The title track is a groundbreaking hypnotic post-disco pop gem, and Prins Thomas turns the tempo knob up a few clicks and launches into an extended interstellar  excursion with his remix. On the B side the cinematic slow burner ‘It Was The Summer’ begins sparse and hazy and builds to a driving peak of backbeat rhythm and an insistent vocal soliloquy. Each Other (Justin Strauss & Max Pask) then take the tune straight to the rave with arpeggiated and acidic synths, recasting the haunting vocals as a modern New Wave anthem.

Revered veteran Italian producer Sebra Cruz has a brand new album incoming on 21st April via DJ Tennis stellar imprint @lifeanddeath. The 11 track album combines a variety of electronic styles but has an overarching Italian warmth and unique sense of style. From the deep melodic warmth of his collaboration Margaret with DJ Tennis via the groove infused electronic boogie of Don't Worry Psy Happy and onwards to bass jam Dancebra and euphoric When Life Was Slow it's an album packed with class. Packing in breakbeat and experimental vibes it's an album which crosses many boundaries but which still ties together beautifully.

Our premier from the album today is the sublimely funky AltreCose, a truly spellbinding offering and one of the album standouts with it's delight of a vocal, subtle keys and powerful bass groove. Sure fire dancefloor glue right here.

New Zealand disco-boogie outfit Flamingo Pier plant some Brooklyn roots with their fresh new ‘Beneath the Neon EP’ on Razor-N-Tape. Known for parties in East London and their massive hometown festival, as well as previous releases on Soundway, the Kiwi collective deliver a trio of new songs that solidify and expand their signature danceable blue-eyed indie-soul sound.

Lead off single How 2 Feel shows a clubbier side of the band, with a pulsating house rhythm track and layers of angular synth stabs, vibey horn lines, and vocal chants. Beneath the Neon and Remedy are more familiar Flamingo Pier territory, upbeat indie disco anthems that boast incendiary vocal hooks, funky guitar work, and crisp production by Luke Walker.

Rounding out the EP are remixes by Chicago house legend Glenn Underground, and RNT co-head JKriv, whose mix features a guest appearance by Afro-boogie royalty Steve Monite.

Oozing with hazy sun, Beneath the Neon is the perfect soundtrack to soak up the dog days of summer.

@thesecretsoulsociety have built up an enviable discography in a relatively short time since arriving on the scene back in 2021. Delivering a hazy summer Balearic vibe their music has landed on some of our favourite labels including Citizens of Vice, Paper Recordings, Slightly Transformed, Rare Wiri as well as their own Scruffy Soul. 

Secret Soul Society’s latest outing see’s them deliver a full 15 track album, ‘Keep The Mystique’ via @hell-yeah. As always the tracks are packed full of beautifully flipped samples coupled with scintillating work on the drums and a whole lot of Balearic soul.

It’s a super summer album and the perfect entry point to sample what Secret Soul Society is about.
