Berlin based XXXY starts his latest label adventure with Sour Edits after a successful volume first release from himself a few months back, volume 2 is hot on its heels and will undoubtedly follow in the same direction, definitely a label to look out for this year. SOUR002 belongs to Marcin Krupa, the astronomical tapes label boss provides a perfect addition to the new sour edits line up with this smooth 3-track EP. Each track is uniquely impressive in its own way; the polish sample wizard perfectly creates three euphoric bangers, prepare to be taken on an emotional journey.

We have the pleasure of premiering the first track on the release, ‘Jazz with some house elements’. This Jazz-infused rhythmic weapon is everything we love here at bolting bits and is a stand out track in the EP. Marcin does wonders with the unique melody as it swirls around in a haze of house lushness, but another element I have to bring attention to is the brilliant percussive drums playing looping around tying the whole thing nicely together. French local Tartine Records producer @john-tareugram continues to supply the label with his own vision of house music. 'Born Ready' is made of a perfect synthetic melody which John alone has the secret, a powerful bassline, a bouncing drumrack and lovely vocal samples. As B side's first track of Untartined Tapes Volume 3, it sounds fantastically fresh with no concessions. John can surely keep the keys of the label.

London powerhouse Slothboogie is gearing up to drop the fourth installment in their SBEDITZ series, this time with an EP of slammers from international man of mystery, Joe Cleen. This time around, the Berlin based producer has delivered four raw and ready cuts in various styles. We’ve got serious disco heat (one soaked in 80’s nightclub neon), a glorious piano jam laced with dubbed out gospel vocals, shuffling drum machine hats and a pimped out G-Funk synth, and ‘​The Fun Part​’, a bubblin’ bass funk groover filled with crisp percussion and jazzy Rhodes.

‘Give You All I Got’ is the perfect opening track for an amazingly cohesive project, a certified disco monster with infectious brass, erotic vocals and huge space toms reworked to launch any dancefloor into the stratosphere! Steadily swung percussion rides nicely in front of a fat bottomed bassline, while Joe takes us to church with a sensual vocal that glides smoothly over the instrumental. ‘Give You All I Got’ keeps the energy contained, and it moves through four minutes with a graceful swagger that’ll surely capture the attention of eager dancers. Honestly, I just watched the new Quincy Jones documentary on Netflix and this EP sounds like something he’d like. That’s saying a lot.

Slothboogie SBEDITZ004 will be available on October 26th, and you’d be wise to set an alert because the project is limited to 500 copies. This is a vinyl only release, so if you don’t spin records, now is the time to practice (it’s great fun, trust me). You’d be dumb not to have this one in your bag, so do your best to be one of 500.

'Pillow Talk' features fellow Frenchman Tour Maubourg and together they've cooked up this swaggering slice of acidic disco. Muted guitar licks, bubbling arps and a choice soaring disco soul sample chopped to perfection.
