An avid crate-digger, Bristol-based producer and artist Slowe naturally takes inspiration from a plethora of genres, with her DIY approach reminiscent of lo-fi beat making - delicately collaging session recordings together, and repurposing techniques akin to those of J Dilla and Madlib. The result is both nostalgic and fiercely contemporary, with sparkling Rhodes, vintage drum lines, and ethereal vocals. This special Dilla Day mix pays tribute to the producer, drummer, rapper and songwriter with a selection of Slowe’s favourite tracks; "I wanted to put together this mix in honour of one of my biggest inspirations. Just fifty favorite records of mine that I happen to own in vinyl in no particular order. Mostly 90s "backpacker" type stuff - it's a reflection of when I was collecting at the time, and doesn't necessarily represent all my favorite artists or favorite songs, many of which never were released on vinyl. I've never made a mix this long, and admittedly I ended up doing it in three separate parts. There was no real planning besides making sure I played 50 different records. Hope you dig it!

POOLScast - Season 2 - Episode 2: Soul Supreme

DJ Kim Lightfoot has been a music collector and turntable artist for most of his life, yet he somehow remains one of Brooklyn's best-kept secrets. With a cult following that reaches as far as the Land of the Rising Sun but that was born in the streets of Brooklyn, a party with him on the ones-and-twos is always a night or day to remember. The best thing about this humble music maestro is that he's an old-school vet who's never lost touch with his soul.

He was raised in the Brownsville section of Brooklyn NY in the 1970’s, Kim’s living room and the streets were his soundtrack. He remembers the music that his mother, older brothers, and aunts used to play. Motown to Funk, Jazz to reggae, Rock to Gospel, James Brown to Johnny Mathis. Kim loved it all. As a young teenager he served as MC to
his twin brother Corey's deejaying. Once they started making mixtapes and doing house parties and community center gigs they were neighborhood legends. Then Kim started watching and learning from Corey and developed his skills deejaying. Corey’s enlistment in the Air Force and Kim departure for college where he hooked up with a crew
on campus (The Master Jammers) spinning break beats and dance music was the impetus for his solo career as professional DJ. Leaving school after the 1st year he found himself back in Brooklyn and he immersed himself into spinning and collecting music..
