If history tells us anything, all societal uprisings have clear identifiable markers that trace back to specific events which transpired at very specific times.  The “Watts Riot,” “The L.A. Riots” etc all presented very early warning signs and symptoms that could have been prevented.  The documentation was available and prevalent far before the actual civil unrest occurred. Communities demanded answers, they demanded justice—and simply; their pleas were ignored.  KXNG Crooked will not be ignored.  If you are looking for a unifying message, KXNG Crooked delivers an incendiary and unapologetic one with his forthcoming solo album Good Vs Evil.

Similar to the rampant rash of police shootings against innocent civilians, KXNG Crooked does give a warning shot with Good Vs Evil. He directly tackles these boiler-plate issues that are permeating society as a super-hero persona from a parallel universe; racial and economic injustices, unprovoked police brutality (and the glaring lack of accountability), a deteriorating educational system, governmental agencies that willingly pump poison into its communities and a basic disregard for civil rights. “It all started when I was watching a news segment on the murders of Eric Garner, Tamir Rice, Sandra Bland and all the other black people killed by Police” Crooked states. “I saw Tamir Rice's mother on TV and the pain in her eyes made my blood pressure boil. No mother should lose a child like that. Then, I watched cops kill unarmed people on film and go home to their families like black lives didn't matter. No charges and with paid leave. At the same time, I watched officers capture Dylan Roof alive and buy him a hamburger after he slaughtered nine black churchgoers. I thought to myself, are we under attack as black people to the point where I might have to shoot an officer just to survive a mere traffic stop? I thought, how crazy is it that we even have to think about in America (in 2016)?  Then I thought, how ill would it be to have a black super-hero (that other black children can look up to; the same way we do Marvel characters) to tackle and these issues.”  
Good Vs Evil is an incendiary and unapologetic audible call to arms that demands to not only be heard---but processed.  The anger, truth, authenticity and clarity of Crooked’s mythological character’s message are both palpable and unwavering. The albums messaging is an embodiment of Public Enemy, Ice Cube, N.W.A. and Tupac updated and delivered as only KXNG Crooked can. “As more and more bodies piled up from police brutality, I started paying closer attention to politics and government corruption on a whole and I could feel myself going into a dark place mentally and when I get to that place, I find light in music” Crooked lamented.  “I'm the type of person who feels other people’s pain more than average. I’ve been that way my whole life. It's a gift and a curse. With Good Vs Evil I decided to create an alternate universe where the victims of police brutality, government corruption and class discrimination fight back; but not through silent protest---through violent protest. Sometimes you have to shake people up and shock them into paying attention. Imagine if Mike Brown, or Philando Castile survived the officers shooting them and went straight to the studio to record an album. What would they say? How wouldn't they feel?” 
While a few individuals have stepped up to carry the torch, Crooked takes things a step further with Good Vs Evil; he is not asking for sit-downs, or to clear the air, Crooked is about that action and like any true activist----he is willing to lead by example to enact swift and radical change. Good Vs Evil is KXNG Crooked answering the bell, staring into the face of oppression and striking a nerve. “Good Vs Evil is my medication” Crooked asserted “I either made it, or made the news.”

In 2008, Termanology began making a name for himself, he had several highly-acclaimed singles in rotation and when DJ Premier laced him with one of his signature, scratch-laden beats on "Watch How It Go Down" the hood conscious anthem became an underground classic; and with it Termanology thrust himself onto hip-hop's international radar.

Soon after, Term released his solo-debut, Politics As Usual, a project that included a Mount Rushmore like array of producers; DJ Premier, Pete Rock, Large Professor, Havoc, Alchemist, Hi-Tek, Buckwild, Easy Mo Bee & Nottz. Politics As Usual was one of those rare projects which managed to merge the best of both worlds for Hip-Hop fans; meshing classic boom-bap production from a virtual who's who list of production royalty with Term’s lyricism, swagger and bravado.

Just as in life, in hip-hop everything comes full-circle and while a lot has changed since Termanology released his debut; he’s back with More Politics. Similar to his debut, More Politics again brings together the elite of the elite beatsmiths, as Just Blaze, Q-Tip, Buckwild, Hi-Tek, Nottz, Dame Grease, J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League and his brother from another mother Statik Selektah all contribute production. Almost a year ago (11-11-16 to be exact) today, KXNG Crooked released a manifesto in the form of Good Vs Evil.  To rewind, Donald Trump had just been elected the 45th President in one of our most controversial presidential elections, divisiveness infiltrated every aspect of the populous, governmental agencies were willingly pumping poison into its communities, protests were raging in the streets, unprovoked police brutality was rampant (with zero accountability) and the societal divide widened with each passing day. 

With a seemingly basic disregard for human rights, it was understood that we were living in a complicated and dangerous time.  People were in search of answers and a unifying message; Kxng Crooked’s Good Vs Evil could not have appeared at a more needed time as he delivered a project that stared into the face of oppression and struck a nerve.

Though it seems counter-intuitive and unimaginative, the year that has passed in-between has led us even further astray.  The Donald Trump era has borne witness to fake news, championing racism, bigotry, separatism, sexism and a general contempt for rule of law.  Further, he continues his quest to eradicate the health care of millions, advocated a foreign government meddling in an election, diminished our standing in the International community and displayed more concern about the behavior of NFL football players; then he has for the well-being of the citizens he is sworn to uphold.  

Welcome to the new normal!  

Thankfully, KXNG Crooked’s Good Vs Evil 2: The Red Empire picks up right where its predecessor left off. On the surface, Good Vs Evil 2 is the epitome of woke; a politically and socially conscious decree that demands to be heard and processed.  At its core, it’s designed to be the theme music that Colin Kapernick and a generation can proudly knell to.

While Trump is busy adding to his portfolio by peddling pumpkin MAGA (Make America Great Again) hats, Crooked’s “The MAGA Continues” examines the other side of the catchphrase that 45 used as his campaign slogan; one that has further empowered law enforcement that “used to kill us in the dark, now they just do it in the light.”

Just like any good leader, Crooked isn’t afraid to rock the boat if a culture change is in order, especially those who have the platform to affect change, but lack the fortitude to do so; and he is more than willing to sacrifice Jason Whitlock for Gregg Popovich.

 “Donald Trump coined the now famous acronym MAGA.  I personally believe the phrase ‘Make America Great Again’ is a dog whistle for racism and turning the clocks of progression backwards” Crooked commented to Mass Appeal.  “The way the country is currently divided it seems to be working. I’m really just letting off steam on the joint, but some important points are definitely being touched on. One point I covered in the song is being widely overlooked; maybe because it’s a fairly new form of division in Hip Hop. I’ve done many shows with white rappers and seen some of their fans in the crowd wearing confederate flag and swastika symbols on their clothing. Shit blew my mind. Nobody talks about this element in Hip Hop that is growing and will cause division on another level. I chose to speak on it because Hip Hop is a tool for unification and we need to keep it that way. How long will we allow the MAGA to continue?”

Joell Ortiz & KXNG Crooked met the year they both won XXL's coveted Freshmen of the Year Award. The two's careers are as legendary as any in the rap game. Joell Ortiz started by signing to Dr. Dre's Aftermath label, then moving to Shady records as part of the Super group Slaughterhouse with Joe Budden, Royce Da 5'9 and KXNG Crooked. Gang Starr Foundation member and rhymesayer Hannibal Stax along with Brooklyn’s leading boom-bap purveyor Marco Polo have teamed up for a collaborative project entitled Seize The Day (the duo’s mixtape/precursor, The Honorable, was released in December of 2012) which is now available via Soulspazm Records.

Originally discovered by DJ Premier, Stax has been a staple on NYC’s underground scene for years and was featured on two Gang Starr LP’s and numerous tracks that were lost in major label recording vaults. Although Stax is undeniably a veteran, Seize The Day represents his long-overdue solo debut.
