software: Ms Pinky.

Mother Mother - The Stand (Butterknife Remix)

This is a track I remixed in honour of my little girl's second birthday. I call it #PopStep. Its not "professionally" mastered but I think it sounds good enough to share with you. I'm finally getting the hang of side-chaining.

Release Notes:

1997 was a huge year for music. Both Daft Punk and Hanson released their debut albums. I didn't care much for Hanson back in the day, but as a father I have a new appreciation for them.

Rumour has it "Lucy" was written as a tribute to the Peanuts... as if Schroeder was singing it to Lucy. She would bother him while he slaved over his piano, and then he'd get frustrated. Hanson wrote it as if she left, and he became lonely.

This story struck a chord with me (#PunMuch?). I am also a fan of the Peanuts (my Lucy has a brother named Charlie). I also "slave" over a midi keyboard while Charlie and Lucy nap.

My goal is to make/remix a "Lucy" song every year for her birthday. She inspires me. I'll never take her for granted.

Thank you Brothers Hanson for the sweet song. I hope my #daddyslilgrrlremix does it justice.

Gandharva is a name used for distinct heavenly beings in Hinduism and Buddhism; it is also a term for skilled singers in Indian classical music.

The Gandharva’s are a London, Ontario-based alternative rock band, formed in November 1993. They signed with Watch Music and in 1994 released their debut album “A Soap Bubble and Inertia”. 

The album included this song "The First Day of Spring", which was named Song of the Year (CASBY Award) by The Edge 102.1 in Toronto. It really captured my childhood. It’s got a #PerryFerrellesque sound. 

This is also a tribute to my fave music festival, the OM gathering. Held every Summer Solstice, it is another fond tradition of mine. 
Om Reunion Project: Solstice is a yearly gathering of creative forces to celebrate the longest day of the year. Solstice festival will be a week long members only event in southern Ontario, aimed to inspire creativity and celebrate life. Camp, share, learn, eat, dance, laugh and love.

Treble Charger is a Canadian rock band formed in 1992 in Sault Ste. Marie, consisting of lead vocalist and guitarist Greig Nori, and co-lead vocalist and guitarist Bill Priddle.
I was a real Treble Charger groupie back in the day, hanging-out with Greig at a few raves, most notably Hullabaloo. Those parties were epic. 
Since he was a fan of EDM, I thought he'd appreciate the blood, sweat and tears that goes into a quality remix. The band is recording several new songs in Toronto this fall. I hope this track inspires them.

Paul Hayden Desser (born February 12, 1971who records as Hayden, is a Canadian singer-songwriter from Thornhill, Ontario.

His early works are a largely eclectic mix of genres from grunge rock to alt country, as demonstrated by his first full album, Everything I Long For, released in 1995. Since then his work has become progressively more refined.

Hayden received a B.A.A. in Radio and Television Arts from Ryerson Polytechnical Institute (now Ryerson University) in 1993.
