Colorado native Josephine Foster @damejosephinefoster grew up singing in school and church choirs. She dreamed to become an opera singer but when she moved to the big city to study she found herself most at home performing her own songs, still influenced often by classical art music but also the folkloric influences from growing up at the foot of the Rocky Mountains. After spending her 20’s in Chicago she migrated to Spain for over a dozen years performing and writing with her Spanish language bands Mendrugo and the Victor Herrero Band while still continuing to record frequently in Nashville a number of solo albums. Josephine’s music while deeply rooted to centuries old musical forms remains truly sui generis, wild and free, and her old world voice is the crown upon a expansive body of work.

As a follow up to her retro-futuristic synth album ‘Godmother’, Foster’s new 2023 solo record ‘Domestic Sphere’ takes in contrast a very intimate turn. An exploration of memory and human mortal s/human mortal spaces, it is a spare and soulful journey interwoven with her field recordings made in years of nomadicism. (out April 7 on Fire Records).

so basically for christmas I wrote renee a poem and then they turned it into an epics song. i do some little singing and guitar maybe even on this song. maybe even i saw how ableton works. its super cute. renee is an awesome friend and i liked sitting in the bathtub with her.
