Motek Music came to being as a club night, frequenting the underground clubs and warehouses across London, pushing forward the local lesser seen talent around them alongside some of the heavy weights of the industry. 

The natural development from this was towards the Motek Music Label, opening up in June 2014 and nearly two years down the line is now a rising electronic music label within the Deep House and Techno scene. 

Celebrating the journey Motek has taken over the past years, the collective of DJs and producers behind Motek Music present a free bootleg remix of one of our favourite artists Massive Attack. We hope you enjoy this remix as much as we did making it!

Contrary to the songs name, this interpretation of a traditional Afro-Brasilian candomble song, appears to be forged from mythical lost amazonian gold. Recorded in Sao Paulo with an allstar cast of Arteria FM (on vocal duties), Salvador Araguaya (caressing the Viola Caipira) & Spaniol (stroking the Baixo), steered by Nicola's production prowess, this quartet delivers a melodic enhancement to the summer sun. As if the sun wasn't shining bright enough already, the single comes backed by a remarkable remixer ensemble procured from their duties as fellow sun-worshippers : Xique-Xique's Dragonfruit Mix is a wondrous journey full of surprising leaps and bounds, alternating between hypnotic electronics and organic song structure. Saving the best 'til last he raises the energy whilst keep the beats low and the vibes ecstatic. HIT ! Crussen's creamy cocodub raises the energy whilst concentrating on a dubbed out groove, (that) classic Crussen bassline and carefully sliced & re-appropriated vocals. Finally in-house poster-boy Carrot Green's Granola mix combines disco, deep grainy bassines, juicy bells and signature flourishes into a bowl of magical mind-whirling hip-spinning edible sex. Belgium-based talent DI MARTINELLI twists HELMUT’s recent anthem ‘Fur’ into a dark, hypnotic club tool. The original guitar chords merge with rolling ominous bass, hazy vocals, haunting synths and tribal undertones. While the vocals stay put, the lyrics are downplayed and fuzzy, leaving lots of room for the reverberating sounds to fill in the blanks, HELMUT’s voice ricocheting from the walls, reflected and refracted. 

However layered, this elongated mix maintains the careful pace of the original track, working instead with newly invented arrangements that go right down to the core of the tune. Thorough, yet subtle.

In adding a pulse that oozes Berlin nightlife, DI MARTINELLI creates a subdued-sounding dancefloor drone out of the poppier original. Somehow, this Antwerp prodigy manages to blend a psychedelic desert feel with a dark trance the shade of pre-dawn drifting through forgotten alleyways and backstreets. It’s 4 AM, the club is still coursing through your veins, but you’re on the way home and wanting to stretch the moment. This right here is your perfect soundtrack.
