I didn’t intend for this to be my first song. I recording a ukulele version back in 2013, and had been using this as a warmup song. But sometimes things happen in your life and the pieces you’ve been lugging around because you like them suddenly find a bigger purpose. It wasn’t originally recorded for someone — but it’s being played for someone now.

I owe quite a bit to this song. While goofing off online one day I randomly found the "Inside Llewyn Davis" mini-doc of everyone preparing for the live show, and this song stuck with me. (To this day I have still never seen the actual movie, but I do own the soundtrack and that live show.)

It's pretty easy to sing and play — I picked it up quickly. At the time I had been in a massive rut for months after a long-term relationship had ended. I couldn't even remember the last time I had picked up my guitar before then, or even bothered to sing anything.

I started leaving my guitar out so I would have easy access to it, and multiple times a day I'd just pick it up, play through this song a few times, then go back to what I was doing. Playing music became a thing I could do again.
