Remembering loved ones who are no longer with us helps us maintain emotional continuity and a sense of connection despite the passage of time. Reflecting on them allows us to better understand ourselves, our roots, and the values they passed on to us. It is also a way to nurture gratitude and preserve love that does not end with life.

Unfortunately, the connection has dropped, and we cannot be sure what is happening in the apartment where, at such a late hour, the light is still on. Probably nothing; they’re likely watching a film or reading a book. They might be projecting their reactions outward, and what we see could therefore be nothing more than the reflection of someone else’s nightmares — or dreams. Certainly, we have now reached a turning point: nothing can any longer be regarded as real, or the opposite... (all talk!).

This is the fifth in a series of eight easy, acoustic, rather short, and deliberately inconclusive tracks, assembled by combining new ideas with reworked older material, adding parts and sounds along the way.

I'm sorry to have butchered Don McLean's beautiful song Vincent by changing the words and using his melody and my croaky voice...folksinger, I am not... oh well it was  a good lyric writing exercise at least

Painting with his secret sauce
Liquid White on canvas tossed
I watched him late at night on my TV

Cadmium Yellow daffodils 
A mix of Midnight Black to make his hills
His velvet voice and landscape plan so chill
Nature seemed to bow at his command

On PBS commercial-free
His rush with brush and speedy painting bliss

This song began as a looper beat that Josh created in BandLab. He does that often to start an idea. However, this beat sat on the shelf for almost a year, until he shared it with JJ for one of his Saturday night music sessions. JJ put an arrangement on it with his organ and bass. Josh quickly replaced the bass idea with his own version of it, though. 
  Now it was Ken's turn to replace the dull looper beat with something alive and organic, which he did in the most creative and solid way possible. We had a skeleton now, and it was time to share it with Beck, with whom this is Eclectic Collecitive's first song. She added her magic via the synth you hear sprinkled throughout. Stephen weighed in next with his funky wah guitar. 
  It was almost done at this point, but of course, we wanted Carl to add his greatness to it, as well, which he did by writing and singing some compelling vocals. He took the working title, which Josh came up with having just read The Odyssey, and wrote a whole song about it!  
  Once it was all laid down, we asked Tez to do his expert work with the mix and production, which he did perfectly, as always. We're very lucky to have two very talented producers in the group, and grateful to Tez for ironing this one out for us. 
  This is, as mentioned, the EC's first go round with Beck, and we couldn't be more thrilled to work with her. Not only is she a skilled, creative musician, but she is a delightful ray of sunlight to work with, too. We have another collab with here we plan to release in the coming weeks, as well. There will be more to follow. We hope you enjoy listening to this as much as we enjoyed creating it.
