He thought I was going to give them a couple of sub standard tracks that I didn't want to use, but when he heard them, he was as chuffed as I was to put them on Havoks great label.

Who the fuck puts a 1 & 3/4 minute long breakdown in a record?!!! Fuck me. That's brilliant.

If I had to have had an anthem, this was it. Released on Truelove's premium label TEC and engineered by Geezer, this was the tune that defined what I was all about. It still gives me shivers to hear the vocal at the end of the break. The moment I heard that in the film that appears on the label, I knew it was a killer sample, especially in a small town outside of Toronto, called London.

This is also the tune that destroyed my relationship with Truelove. Shortly after it's release me and everyone else there (not many people) were made redundant and the company folded into one slimy little place. They accused me of promoting myself and my record more than any of the other labels we had, but fuck them, I'm glad I did, because by Millennium New Years Eve I was unemployed. All that promotion went towards the creation of No Entry a few months later.

Working at Truelove was brilliant, it gave me a lift into al the places I wanted to be, but they wanted good little worker bees, not self serving wannabe techno DJ's working there and so the freedom to create my own labels and DJ overseas as much as I wanted was just what I needed.

When I first heard this this, I thought it was repetitive, but it was Ro's label, so he did what he wanted.  Then he put my original on the AA side.  The AA side?!!!!  Ha ha.

But listening back, the remix is actually really well produced.  I can just imagine Rowland working the 303, so it actually warranted the A side after all.

The second and last of my Nukleuz outings.  I just didn't find it fun.  And whilst it may have helped me gain a wider audience and more DJ bookings, Nukleuz's big business attitude didn't sit well with me. 

As good a guy as Nick Sentience is also, I didn't find it natural working with him.  We tried for a third tune If I remember rightly, but never made it.  I would imagine this was a bit of a struggle as it sounds a bit drab to me.  No doubt I went into the studio not as well prepared as I should have done and felt the pressure of the Nukleuz boss breathing down our necks, tapping his watch and reminding us this cost him money.  

It wasn't the first time a studio collaboration hadn't gone that well and it wouldn't be the last.  Nick wouldn't share ideas if I was coming up short and so we had to make something to keep the 'executive producers' happy.  I even remember Nick and I being hauled in front of the boss and told to get on with it, or get along or whatever, like a couple of school kids.  

I could see the bigger picture in terms of DJ work, but I didn't need their corporate shit, so cut the ties with their useless (for me) agency and them in general and went on my way.

This seems to be the best thing that Nick and I did.  Breakbeats and fierce hard house beats, but still sounds quite bright to me, but thats hard dance for you....
